Hey, everybody. This is Clyde D. Stevens. Im known as Clyde or Clyde D. to the folks who bring their laptops in for repairs.
I come from a mid-sized city in the American Midwest, where winters stretch on forever, the roads seem paved with an infinite number of flat stretches, and every garage has a pile of outdated electronics that dad was just going to "tinkertoys together for parts." Since I was around 10, I was the local kid with the expertise to get a subzero computer up and running or replace a hard drive without causing any further damage. This was the beginning of technical aptitude, which developed through high school electronics, college courses, or, you know, trial by fire on friends and relatives systems.
I began repairing laptops seriously somewhere around 2016; initially as a secondary business while I was gainfully employed, and full-time once I appreciated the number of folks I could potentially serve. I get all sorts of laptops: work laptops with busted screens, water-damaged MacBooks from spills at the local coffee shop, hot gaming systems clogged with dust, non-functional batteries, problematic hinges, keyboards that stopped working (thanks, kids/pets), and then there are those strange scenarios where it will not, won't, WON'T turn on. I enjoy the sleuth aspect of it: figuring out whats really wrong, being clear about it, and doing it right the first time. I am always honest: if it doesn't make good business sense, I will tell you so and help you explore your options.
Currently, its a pleasure to collaborate with https://zeto.ua/ it has one of the largest and best online laptop parts databases available in Ukraine (and quite possibly one of the largest and best ones in general, for this particular niche). They carry superior authentic and compatible parts for all major brands, such as Lenovo, HP, ASUS, Acer, Dell, MSI, Apple, Samsung, Toshiba, and so on. Batteries, displays (matrices), keyboards, cooling system fans, power sockets, SSD and HDD storage drives, RAM, hinges, and chargers if its a frequent point of failure, its likely available at their store or on order. That benefits me greatly because it allows faster completion of orders, which subsequently allows setting a decent price for clients.
When Im not in the lab, screwdriver in hand, I can usually be found rounding up a coffee, hosting my personal retro PC projects, or watching football with some buddies. My rescue dog, Scout, is our office mascot and unofficial greeting committeeman he sniffs every bag that comes in containing a laptop.
A huge thanks to all those people who trust me with their tech students living by their deadline schedules, remote workers who cant afford to skip a single day of their work, business owners who want their business operations to run seamlessly, and gamers who want nothing more than to run their games at their best speeds. If your laptops are giving you trouble, give me a call.
