Additional info & updates

Kent or Cardozo... which to go to?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IN: NYLS, SLU, Depaul (PT), Hofstra, IIT-Kent, SJ
NOT: ILLINOIS, MICHIGAN, FORDHAM, NORTHWESTERN, BLS, UCHICAGO, INDIANA
WAIT: Loyola (Chicago), PSU, Cardozo, MSU

5/2/11: Cardozo please let me in!!!! No news and doubt anyone reads this, but I really just want in at Cardozo!!!!

3/24/11: Denied at UChicago... not a big surprise... rock on... come on Cardozo, I REALLY WANT TO GET IN!!!!!!!11

3/17/11: Sad after being denied by Brooklyn Law School :(... just sad... oh well what can one do

Thoughts for 3/15/11: So the SJ status tracker says I am not in review... my application was listed complete back in November and my LSAT score update was there January... so its been a few months

Thoughts for 3/10/11: So Cardozo is on my mind a lot and I really hope I get in.

Thoughts #2: CARDOZO WL!!! You would think I would be sad, but no I am still in the running!!!!!....AHHHHH!!!! IS it wrong that I am happy!!!... will see what comes of it!!!

Thoughts: With my entry into Hofstra, I feel as though MSU is not worth further investment of my time. That being said, BLS, Cardozo, SJ, and UChicago still have yet to reply (IU- just stated I was complete, but my expectations are low for acceptance). I am getting jittery every time I approach the mailbox and can't help but feel there is a plot by my roommate to hide the letters. HOWEVER, I know that is completely false and laugh at myself. Although I must say the stress of finding out is so high.

Thoughts: So I am now awaiting results still from my "Big 3" which is SJ, BLS, and Cardozo (I want to go to LS in NYC)... I am split 3 ways on this evenly... 1)my LSAT score was seen and then they decided not to read anything else and wait to deny later 2) They are deciding whether it is worth putting me on the WL or not 3) they want to deny/WL me, but the rest of my app is keeping me alive... a 4th and very unlikely one is they have not read it yet... torture! oh well what can one do

Thoughts: Deny by Fordham and deferred decision IIT-Kent... What is that suppose to mean from Kent?

Thoughts: So on the e-mail from MSU asking for an essay about why MSU law fits, they mentioned the "Scholarship Committee" would be reviewing it in addition to the admissions people. So I did not know how to take that... Either I am borderline for being accepted (75% sure thats it for some odd reason) or they want to give me money (24.999999% sure) or they want a UM grad to write a nice letter about MSU (.0000001% sure) :)... oh well, what can you do

Thoughts: Ok I am thinking the U of M name and work experience (years of proven success ;)... I get to be a lil bitter, but think of it as humor really) are what are preventing me from getting denied, but the LSAT is a waitlister factor. I am a jesuit product and Loyola did not accept me... typically the jesuits love their own and throw money at them. Although SLU (jesuit as well) did not throw me anything. Oh well... the process moves on.

Thoughts: I would think the law schools would have "decision made" on the status tracker to let you know the decision is in the mail. However, I have only found certain schools do as such. Oh well... makes the waiting process that much more interesting.

Thoughts: So I saw somebody got into DePaul with a 2.7 GPA due to a 160 LSAT. The person was also still in school. SOOO... 1) thats pretty bad that I got waitlisted being from a top caliber school and have work experience 2) Advice to everyone is to take the LSAT in college... if you even think you may want to go to law school take it in college because 3) there is no better way for the schools to evaluate people on a level playing field (Although I think a separate test for people not in undergrad would be more fair... but then that opens up another can of worms).

Oh well :/ not much I can do.

I see they did the same to you. American still my top choice as I'll save on COL. I regret applying to so many schools now, but felt I was late in the game. There's only a few schools left that I will consider over American at this point. GL on the rest of your cycle!

Glad to see someone with similar scores applying to mostly top schools (like I decided to do). I can't believe how much my low LSAT is affecting decisions, thought my good GPA and 3+ years of professional experience would help a lot. Not seeming to be the case. Trying not to drive myself crazy but it's hard when you see someone with terrible scores accepted to the school you want, and also when people with great scores are denied. Quite the mind-f*ck ... Let's try to stay sane together (deep breaths) hhahahha !

Thanks for the comment, good luck on the rest of your cycle! Got the Cardozo call today around 10:30am (PST) from a 212 number. No email but status checker changed to "Decision rendered and sent" - they gave me scholarship info over the phone. Hope to see you there!!!

Unless WUSTL accepts me, which I would still have to think over, I will be attending Minnesota.

I submitted LoCIs to all the schools I was waitlisted to and I now believe that those letters really do play an important role when schools begin to look over their waitlists. It is clearly not as important as your stats, but it definitely may get you admitted over a similar or slightly more qualified applicant! About Cardozo, I have no idea whether the PT section is full. I feel they would still be extending offers of admission to students off the waitlist because there will be students who get accepted from the list and then turn it down anyway (like me) and they will thus still have space. Anyway, the program starts on the 17th so who knows what will happen in the next week. If you are highly interested and have not sent them a letter, that certainly wouldn't be a bad idea!
