One Good LOR
One OUTSTANDING LOR
Very Strong PS's (Especially for HLS)

Scored only 1140 on SAT; hoping that college grades and EC's make up for the shitty LSAT number.

NOTE: "Decision" signifies when I recieved the letter, not when it was sent (excpet with GULC, UVA, and WM).
"Complete" is a roundabout quess for most schools.

Pepperdine Acceptance: small, off-white envelope
Loyola Rejection (WTF?): small, cream envelope
Yale Rejection (Figures): small, white envelope
GULC Rejection: small, white envelope
UCLA Rejection: small, white envelope
WM Waitlist: Small, off-white envelope
Harvard Rejection: small, off-white envelope...finally....bastards

Don't Worry

I cannot believe the top schools won't see beyond the 3 hour exam to what you are capable of ! ... and if they don't you didn't want to be there anyway (and that is NOT cognitive dissonance!). You may have MORE problems at the state schools who are married to the numbers. Don't be insecure, you just think differently... they are the ones claiming to want a diverse class... heres their chance. Don't take the LSAT again, if you believe its an invalid measue of your skills, why try to validate it for them? TRUST ME I AM IN THE SAME PLACE... Good Luck Let me know where you end up... Ed

Thanks a bunch!

Yeah, four hours shouldn't count as much as four years. Thanks for the kind words, and good luck to you too...I'll be keeping a lookout for ya.

Suggestion
Sunday, April 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

The only other suggestion I might make is more of a statistical one. Were I you I would probably add 2 or 3 more top 20 schools CAREFULLY. UVa is a state school and if you are not from VA... UChicago embraces diverstity (prob my 1st choice), Columbia and U Penn are less traditional than NYU and GW is a good safety for Georgetown... HLS is a very good choice for you, if you have time i'd add a few more apps (AVOID INDICES!!). In my case, I applied to schools with strong interest in technology law and skewed my essay that way, hoping to offset my 153 by my real world experience. BTW I feel, for people like us, UChi is prob the best school in the country... emphasizes fundamentals, writing, research, etc, the TOOLS

Good Advice

I looked into other top schools during this whole admissions process, but I didn't want to set myself up for too many denials. That's why I went for schools which I thought I had somewhat of a chance at (save maybe yale, and -admitedly- virginia). You're more than correct with your assessment of state schools, indices, and out-of-staters, but isn't UChi coming up on its deadline? Might I be too late to apply?

for UChi is 2/1 but if you are submitting via LSAC it doesn't take that long (so why are you sitting here reading this.. lol)... I strongly suspect you will get into HLS anyway, perhaps we will meet there... ed
