Additional info & updates

so I got the decoy env. from Harvard today.
Good thing I was expecting it.
In other news my prof forgot to mail my letter and then he forgot to sign it so it was sent back so that means that Yale is pretty much out (not that it wasn't an incredibly long shot to begin with), luckily the only other two that were waiting for that letter were Georgetown and NYU and they both only technically required 1 letter so his stupidity has not held my file up there.

I have also applied in Canada at:
UBC
Ottawa
Western
McGill
Dalhousie

I wish I would just hear from one school! Arggggg

Alright - got rejected by Duke today.
I knew this was going to be hard (getting all those rejection letters) because I knew there was no chance of me getting in everywhere I applied but that's why Iapplied to so many schools - but this is really tough.

Just one letter! Please!

Also go turned down by Toronto and Ottawa - Toronto I was expecting big time as their snobiness knows no bounds - but Ottawa was my backup - by far and away the CRAPPIEST school I applied to. So I dont' know what to do now - it's going to take a freaking miracle to get into law school - or so it seems - and I thought my LSAT was so good too.

Oh well - I guess I'm off to come up with a new life plan now...

waiting, waiting, waiting, this is brutal.
Weeks go by and nothing.
Although I do have a plan B now: Urban planning. So I'm a little less stressed out about the outcome of this now.
Of course Plan B might be as hard to get into as Plan A - but you know - that's my problem.

Well, Michigan won't have me - things just get worse and worse:(

I don't know how people are supposed to be able to take this kind of rejection - it's really very upsetting. And how are youn supposed to tell your parents that you're no good?

well the Stanford rejection letter is actually very nice. So that was pleasant.
Apparently I'm waitlisted at UBC and Western is waiting for my grades - so that's the latest - I have to get back so studying :O

Kelly, All the canadians seem to have lower GPAs than the Americans, relative to LSAT. What was the median at your college? At mine it was 3.41, and my 3.33 was 13%iles below median. You beat my buddy's 2.8 / 165 spread, good work :) I was getting really angry about NYU replying to everyone except me, but now I must shut up. I think the top schools are really finicky about getting every little piece of the app before they start reading. I'm sure Thomas Cooley School of Law would have accepted you by now if you'd applied. :) Is OT the only province in Canada?! I haven't seen anyone from anywhere else. Be patient! Have fun this weekend!

well....

first off :OT means other, I think :P well, I go to U of T (university of Toronto) and in my experience NO ONE gets A's - which makes it really hard to get a 4.0 for example: my roommate was awarded an award for being the best poli sci student in our year last year at U of T (we have the biggest poli sci department in the world) and she doesn't have a 4.0, not even close! (I think she has like a 3.6. hrm, didn't even get a fee waiver from this thomas cooley place ;)

OT

I eventually figured out OT when I saw Alberta and Korea profiles :) (Many) Americans are coddled with inflated grades. NYU admissions staff are too busy wandering around The Gates of Central Park. I'm on vacation now; I expect mail when I get home.

Thanks for the optimism. Do you have a profile on this site? What schools have you applied to? In anywhere yet?

Going for Fall 2006
Sunday, March 13 2005 at 07:00 PM

I won't be applying until this fall to start law school in 2006. I created a profile but nothing is there yet since I'm busy with school now. Yes, I'm back at U of T..and...taking poli sci courses! It's a long story... I'm mainly looking at US law schools even though they are so extremely expensive!!! The reason is that I worked in the US after grad and liked where I was. But I'll apply to a few Canadian schools too.

I'm the freak behind you in class

hahaha I may be in one of your classes. Scary eh? :) Law school will always be there. If you take a year off, your app can only get stronger with some WE.

KE, I did the 'yale chat' a few months back. Don't worry, you won't be missing much. Anyways, since you left a message on my profile, I've been pulling for you. I really hope you get into a law school, and even if you don't, Urban Planning is an amazing field to be in. Good luck.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It's been a tough month. But oh well, I'll pull through it, just need to finish all these papers. AHHHHHHHH

That was - "He did good this week ;)"

good you are

Kelly, you're not "no good". And you know there are more than eight law schools in the barren wasteland south of the border. You will probably find, if you so desire, that working for a bit and taking that experience to law school will help your (re-)applications and your satisfaction too. The world is still open to you!
