I have an M.A. and I am just finishing my Ph.D. Unfortunately, I really suck at tests...

5-18-07: Waitlisted at Cleveland...hmmmm... Well, honestly, I haven't tried very hard to get in there. I haven't called or expressed any sort of undying love. And an attorney who is an alumni and still involved with the law school offered to call the director of admissions on my behalf last month, and I declined his offer. I think I knew that if he did that and I got in, but then decided not to go that I'd feel so incredibly guilty about his effort. Obviously, that must mean that I don't want to go to CSU. I'm withdrawing...

5-15-07: Case says that the committee is still looking over my application. They realize that they have been reviewing it for an entire month, but they need "more time." TRANSLATION: We need to see if we can get enough people with extremely high LSATs and GPAs to commit in order to balance out your crappy score. ME: Yes, yes. I understand. We can't let your rating slip because of one crappy test taker...even if this LSAT idiot did finish her Ph.D. in two years with several publications in peer-reviewed journals under consideration...

5-12-07: It's Saturday. Still no word from Case. With each passing day, I'm becoming more at peace with the fact that I'll likely be moving to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, which is totally cool. I love Minneapolis, and it's closer to where I'm originally from, so it would be a great move. I just want some definite answers soon...

5-11-07: Akron e-mailed and said they will start looking at deferred applications in June, but if I would like to apply for part-time evening, they would look at my application next week. No thanks. I don't love Akron THAT much, but I spent a lot of time on each of my applications, and I paid for schools to look at my ENTIRE application. I'll wait.

5-11-07: After originally telling me that all decisions would be final by May 1, Cleveland e-mailed and said, "We hope to have decisions final in the next few weeks." Wow.

5-7-07: Visited Case campus. Everyone was extremely friendly. Admissions said they'd have an answer for me likely by Tuesday and by Friday for sure.

4-29-07: Visited Syracuse over the weekend and decided that the school and community isn't a good fit. For me, loving the school AND the place I'm going to live for the next three years is very important...

Thanks! It's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one waiting! I've heard a rumor that Case and CSU are having some admission drama this year. I e-mailed CSU four weeks ago, and they said "All decisions will be final by May 1." Yeah, OK.

I received a brief letter notifying me of acceptance. All correspondence since has arrived via e-mail or internet announcement. Hope that helps!
