Additional info & updates

04/03/2010 Decided today that I will be attending DU in the Fall. Although I am keeping an open mind to the option of Richmond or W&M if I was to get off a WL, although my wife and I are going full forward with our Apartment search and intend to move to Denver in the next three months once she can secure a RN position in the area.

03/30/2010 Quick update: I withdrew myself from consideration previously for the schools that I was admitted at but decided not to attend. A couple days ago I also withdrew from the Wait Lists on all schools except W&M and Richmond. Meaning I will be attending either Denver (95%), Stetson (3%), Richmond (1.9%) or W&M (0.1%)

Also I found out I was rejected at W&L, so that completes the decisions on all of my applications. Final tally:

Admitted: 6
Hold/WL: 5
Rejected: 8

03/26/2010 WL at Richmond. I haven't heard anything from Richmond since November since they don't have a status checker, so I almost forgot I even applied. If I got off the WL soon, I might consider it as an option, but my wife and I are full-steam ahead on DU, looking at apartments and nursing jobs for her. The final choice will come Easter weekend after visiting DU's ASD.

03/24/2010 Hold at FIU

03/19/2010 WL at W&M. This and W&L are the only schools that would make me consider another school outside of DU and Stetson

03/10/2010 Dinged at Willamette. Willamette really confuses me for being a T3 or T4, seems very selective this cycle as a friend of mine was WL with numbers that should have been auto admit numbers, maybe their trying to boost there rank or were leery since neither of us are from the Portland area. I'm guessing it is the 2nd option as they did send me an email two months ago asking about my connection to the area and why I applied to Willamette. This was not one of those schools that would have changed my decision between DU and Stetson, so no lost sleep here.

02/21/2010 Since my decision to attend law school is more or less down to Stetson and Denver, I've decided to inform the four other schools that I will be withdrawing from their schools. I didn't want to hold any spots or scholarship money at schools from other students, so hopefully this will assist someone.

02/20/2010 Dinged at Wake Forest... My plan has been to select between Stetson and Denver after my wife and I visit the campuses, so this does not affect that in any regard. The only thing that could potentially changed my decision would be an unexpected acceptance to one of my remaining choices that are ranked higher than DU and Stetson.

02/09/2010 Dinged at UW-Madison. Would have been my top choice, but the realist knew this was far from likely. The shocking news was my wife's excitement over the rejection... I guess she is excited to move out of Wisconsin, and frankly I cannot blame her due to the weather.

02/01/2010 IN at Nova!

New Update:

Accepted: 6 (Samford, Stetson, Denver, Mercer, Nova and Quinnipiac)
Waitlisted: 1 (Seattle)
Held: 1 (Miami)
Rejected: 4 (Georgia, Lewis & Clark, FSU, and American)

01/28/2010 Waitlisted at Seattle University.

01/20/2010 Accepted at Mercer! Back over the .500 mark! My wife always wanted to be a Georgia peach, but depending on scholarships, it would be difficult to selected Mercer over DU and Stetson. We will see!

01/19/2010 Dinged at both FSU and Lewis & Clark today. Not really shocked or bothered about either.

New Update:

Accepted: 4 (Samford, Stetson, Denver, and Quinnipiac
Deferred: 1 (Miami)
Rejected: 4 (Georgia, Lewis & Clark, FSU, and American)

01/16/2010 Accepted at Quinnipiac! Kind of excited by the second part of the envelope (small white envelope) which housed a scholarship offer of $20,000/year, top 50% requirement, with the potential for a higher scholarship with an optional interview. The scholarship offer in very intriguing, first offer in the cycle.

01/14/2010 Decision in the mail from Florida State, but no seat deposit amount which seems to have been on those who were accepted. Not anticipating an acceptance from FSU, but who knows, crazy things can happen.

01/11/2010 Dinged at American.

01/07/2010 IN at Denver!!! It has been exactly a month since I last received an admission decision, so it was nice to open my email and have an acceptance from Sturm College of Law. My only issue now is that I was all but set for the past month to attend Stetson, but now I'm going to actually have to actually debate the merits of each school and area. I've setup a visit to Stetson in early March, but I do not have anything setup with Denver, although I have visited the area a handful of times, and my wife has family in Denver.

Also found out that decision has been made at American, so I guess I'll have to wait about a week to find out that decision.

As of today, 01/07/2010 my cycle results are as follows

Admitted - 3 (Samford, Stetson, Denver)
Deferred - 1 (Miami)
Rejected - 1 (Georgia)

12/07/2009 IN at Stetson!!! Really excited as I was all but convinced that I would be rejected after seeing some of decisions that have recently came out and the more rigid standards that Stetson has had this year versus past.

12/02/2009 Received decision from Samford University via status checker: admitted! It is really exciting getting my first acceptance for law school, meaning I will be attending regardless if the other 18 applications fall through, although I am not really pulling for that to be the case. Later in the day, I just found out that I was denied admission at UGA, which is not a surprise in the least, but worth the shot with the Fee Waiver. To date, my cycle has gone exactly as expected through the first three decisions.

As of today, 12/02/2009 my cycle results are as follows

Admitted - 1 (Samford)
Deferred - 1 (Miami)
Rejected - 1 (Georgia)

11/20/2009 Just received my first decision from University of Miami, Waitlisted. Letter stated that my application will be reevaluated prior to April 30th. This is the first in a long list of places that I expect to be waitlisted, actually anticipating 9 WL out of the 20-25 applications.

11/11/2009 I have applied to a whole bunch of schools, some that are major reaches, but with fee waivers it was worth at least trying (and the $12). I called the "U" since MyUM did not show any updates, and I was wondering if my application was complete or not. The lady I spoke with was nice, although seemed busy. She informed me I was complete and in the review process. She also said I should hear something soon on my application, which seems pretty accurate based on last years LSN data, where most people who submitted near 10/21 heard back on their application by 11/18. I'm hoping to have my first decision by next week, hopefully a positive decision to start the cycle.

I checked my status checkers and I am in a form of review at Wake Forest (admin. review, 10/28), Nova (11/4), and Stetson (11/6).

Good luck on making your decision. I will most likely be attending Denver- great school if you are looking to stay in the mountain west area.

Were you held at Miami or actually WL'd?
