Additional info & updates

15 years out of undergraduate school, local tv news Executive Producer...Married with 2 kids, so supporting the family during law school is a major concern -- and makes acquiring scholarships particularly important.

4/16: A little late getting back here - but the cycle is over, I've decided to take the leap and head to Irvine. Absolutely loved everything I saw and heard during ASD, and I'm proud to be an Anteater!

3/11: Package waiting for me when I got home - acceptance from Indiana, with an offer of their Merit Scholarship, $15K per year...had narrowed my choices but this might shake things up late in the game.

2/18: What a day! Got home from work to find an acceptance letter from UMKC in my mailbox, along with a scholarship offer of $5,000/$4,000/$4,000. Not the full ride I was looking for (in-state, that's a little less than half-tuition) - but I was invited to apply for a separate full tuition award.

A few minutes later - the phone rings.. Caller ID says UC Irvine - Yes! Had a very nice conversation with Dean Ortiz, and am looking forward to speaking with Dean Chemerinsky in the next few days. I continue to be very interested in being part of their first class.

Checked my phone at the gym a couple of hours later.. Baylor - in with full tuition!

Wow. Some thinking to do....

2/14: Busy couple of days.. .got acceptance email from Northwestern Thursday, then UMKC on Friday.

I'm - obviously - thrilled to get into Northwestern.. and had fun today exploring their admitted students website -- then I got into gear with the financial aid paperwork. Even did a Google street view of the downtown area around the law school.

2/11: Got antsy... so I sent applications to Indiana & Baylor. Hope I'm not too late to be considered for significant scholarships.

2/9: Dean Brooks from UMKC contacted me to clarify a point on my application...saying my app was being reviewed, so hopefully I'll hear something from them soon.

2/6: Got the email from Duke... "Priority Reserve list." Guess I'll be waiting a little longer.

1/28: Just saw I'm "complete" at Duke.. under priority track, that means they're supposed to mail an answer to me within 10 days. Think I'll be watching the mail a bit more closely for the next couple of weeks...

I'm strongly considering sending out a second wave of apps - Indiana & Baylor are possibilities.

Oh, you'll definitely hear good news from UMKC. LOL. With your numbers I'd be SHOCKED if they didn't give you a full ride. That's be nice and close to home for ya - no relocating!
