Additional info & updates

Not much else goin' on. Leave a note, if you'd like.

Sent- Date I pressed "send" on LSAC

Received- Date they requested my report from LSAC/emailed me to say they'd requested my report, whatever happened first.

Complete- Date they emailed/wrote to let me know I was complete. For NYU, I called to check.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harvard- Phone

Boalt- Phone (and email) with snail mail "to come in December."
Boalt UPDATE, 1-19-05: I got a call from someone in admissions offering me a full ride. It's a really nice offer...dammit!

Michigan- USPS- large envelope with blue folder in it. Letter was dated Nov. 21, so it took a while to get here.

Georgetown- USPS. Was sent to my permanent address in another country, so I actually received it 11-28.

UVA- Phone call with Dean's Scholarship offer.

Cornell- USPS. Invitation to apply for Dean's Scholarship, up to $30,000/year. Letter arrived 12-12-05.

UPenn- Phone call. Levy scholarship (invitation to apply) came early in January.

Yale- Phone. OH MY GOD. I'm still shaking.

Duke- Got an email inviting me to a reception which mentioned I was accepted. I haven't been home to check my mail for a couple of weeks, so I'm guessing they already sent the package and I just hadn't received it.

Chicago- Phone, with email after and letter to come later on.
UPDATE 02-09-05: Got a letter offering me a $64,000 scholarship.

Columbia- Email, with letter to come after.

Stanford- Finally got the WL letter...it took FOREVER. At last, it's over!

You were so helpful with mine, no problem. Do you you want to email it to me? (I can't remember if I gave you my email address, let me know).

you are so on point. you're going to sweep - Good luck and I hope you'll hae a very tough time weighing all the options you're going to have!

thanks
Saturday, September 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

thanks for the encouragement. i WOULD wish you good luck too, but i see we are applying to many of the same schools.....(mwahahha) but seriously, you'll do great. i've also heard the # of people who sat for the LSAT was down this year, so thats encouraging...less competition. not like you have anything to worry about anyway.

woo!

Barring some weird freak incident, you're going to be massively successfull with applications. You certainly deserve it. Don't get too worked up with waiting; just relax and enjoy a nice warm autumn.

I'm so happy for you! Congrats and congrats some more. I can't wait to see what other great schools you're going to get into...prolly most, if not all, I think.

I can't write coherently...(but don't tell law school that). I meant "are you planning...", though I'm sure you got that.

Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

Of, def...I wouldn\\\'t be able to go if I didn\\\'t get help. But they have funding to either help with the costs or cover them entirely (meaning the airfare). So, I guess they would have us stay with students or something...I don\\\'t really know...but when the time comes, I\\\'ll have to see. I\\\'d really love to go.

Congrats...

Wooooohoooo!

You have to STILL be doing some kind of happy dance for Harvard! I\\\'m sooo happy for you! And so early in the season too! Wow, have yourself a great weekend and just enjoy life. X

Ha!

Yeah, I wish...my numbers are quite a bit lower than yours, but a girl can always dream. : )

Amazing numbers -- you should sweep this cycle easily. Good luck with everything fellow "Hispanic." I'll be sure to check in and congratulate you on the sweep later in the cycle! -- CS

Are you really Galt?
Saturday, October 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Because I don't know how I feel about the body-shaking thing. My heart belongs to another (namely my boyfriend and Su :P).

Saturday, August 20 2005 at 08:00 PM

what did you write about? can you add more info about yourself so that mirrors your application to the law schools you applied to?

Saturday, October 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Im not quite sure I understand the question, but I sent Yale a 250-worder on something that happened during a job I had that ended up making me want to be a lawyer. I just described the situation (which happened to be pretty extreme and I think interesting). For the additional PS I sent them the diversity statement I sent to other schools. Does that answer your question?

Congratulations, and two quick questions
Friday, December 31 2004 at 07:00 PM

Hey, congratulations on the acceptance! I have two questions for you though. It would be awesome if you could answer them. I got a W on my transcript (non-punitive, non GPA counting,) Did you have any Ws on your transcript, or do you know anybody that has one or more and will it affect my acceptance into Harvard, Yale, etc? (Considering I get a high GPA and a high LSAT? (E-mail me or leave a message with the answer in my profile) Also, if you dont mind, could you tell me how you prepared for the LSAT?

yale!!!!

yay i got in too (albeit 3 weeks after you). woohoo, w&l,

Congrats!
Tuesday, August 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hello m'dear! You are inspiring to say the least. Let me know if you decide to go to Yale. One of my homegirls will be a 2L there next year and she's one of the kindest folks I know...I'll hook you up with her contact so she can play "mother hen". Ciao!

Wow congrats
Sunday, August 21 2005 at 08:00 PM

Wow congrats you have the highest numbers on this site for a latino. You got every top law school on their knees begging you to come to their school. Congrats!! It is always great to see a fellow latina succeed!!

What in the hell...
Sunday, September 25 2005 at 08:00 PM

....is Stanford's problem? They should already have sent a limo to pick you up.

Saturday, October 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

I hope you're joking. I would love to get that call from Stanford. The fact that I won't be able to visit or explore S like I can explore Harvard/Yale doesn't mean I wouldn't consider them an option, even this late. I was being tongue-in-cheek in the info section.

A- I don't know about that...the sunniness might actually convince me. I miss the Caribbean. B- If I do withdraw I miss out on all the fun of finding out if they're the one school to ding me. Come on, that's a valuable piece of data for next year's LSN users, no? :P

Saturday, October 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Do I know you? Seriously...that's exactly the argument my mother makes for H. She's hoping I'll want to go back home eventually. Also, I'm pretty sure she wants to be able drop in unexpectedly, and $99 flights would make that way too easy, :P.

LSAT Prep
Saturday, October 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

I just got a bunch of preptests and books (the Logic Games Bible is amazing) and timed myself doing them over and over. That was pretty much it--practice.

Stanford
Saturday, October 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for noticing the date mistake--it's fixed. I have no idea why I was waitlisted, but, honestly, at this point I just don't care that much. If they'd let me in earlier, I might have ended up there, but I don't really feel like going through the hassle of a waitlist, even for the weather.

Waitlist
Saturday, October 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Too much work to stay on it...they'd probably laugh at me any way. I doubt very many people get in off the waitlist.

Good Luck!
Tuesday, August 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

I'm sorry about Stanford...they waitlisted me, too, and I think sheer stubborness will make me wait it out. But on the other hand, UCB is a great fit for me-I think Yale will be a good one for you, too. Like I said earlier, I have a really good friend who is a 1L there currently so if you'd like an e-intro to someone who could help with "transitioning" I'd be glad to connect you two. Suerte hermana! =o)

I have not withdrawn from Stanford. I figure I owe them the same courtesy of a prompt reply that they showed me. And, also, I'm too lazy to send a letter just to tell them I don't want to be on their waitlist. Bleh. They're smart; they'll figure it out.

Terrified. I've spent the last 16 years of my life (yeah, it started in the first grade, what can I say) competing with people, and I'm tired of it. :P

Toby
Saturday, October 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Nope, I hadn't really been emailing him at all, but we'd talked a few times (the interview call, the admit call, and then I spent a few minutes with him during Admit Weekend and had a drink--I really like him). He just kind of emailed me out of the blue last week to ask if I was going to Yale (it was a really sweet/funny email) and to tell me that if so he'd be disappointed. I said I'd chosen Yale. So, he knows.

LSAT
Saturday, October 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

You mean the first time I took a practice test? I can't really remember...probably somewhere in the mid 60s. I had a little trouble with the logic games in the beginning, but thankfully that's the easiest thing to learn. I studied off and on (during vacations and breaks) for about a year, but the most intense prep I did was really the six weeks before the exam, when I did the Logic Games Bible and about a million timed practice tests.
