Additional info & updates

9/27/09 - In at Duke via Priority Track!

10/26/09 - Decision rendered for Georgetown

10/31/09 - In at Georgetown via snail mail. Personal note a nice touch

12/7/09 - Big box of Vandy stuff including acceptance letter.

12/9/09 - In at WUSTL via email. Hopefully December will be a big month

12/14/09 - In at Penn via phone call. In at BYU via Dean's Interview.

12/29/09 - In via phone call to Chicago. This is currently my #1 choice. Hopefully some scholly money will solidify this. This acceptance is the biggest relief so far. Status checker never updated to decision, but only updated the "Application Under Review" to today's date.

Early January - Hold from Harvard, request for fall grades from Columbia, invite to apply for scholly from Penn, money from BYU... oh and a "we don't have anything to say but haven't forgotten you" email from Michigan.

Late January (don't remember exact date) - received Admitted student packet for Chicago.

1/30/10 - In at Columbia with funny-yellow-colored package in mail.

2/2/10 - Received Penn's admitted student binder with a bunch of info.

2/20/10 - Scholly from Duke via snail mail and huge Columbia file.

2/24/10 - Chicago scholarship in email

2/25/10 - WUSTL scholarship via email

2/26/10 - Waitlist at Michigan via email. I withdrew as soon as I received the email. I did not write the "Why Mich?" essay and it seems like this is one of the things Michigan does look for in serious candidates. If you are truly interested in a school (I wasn't in Michigan) than write the optional essays. Without those essays, even if you have high enough numbers, they will be worried about Yield Protecting and may consider you a less-serious candidate.

3/1/10 - Vandy Scholarship in mail

3/4/10 - UPenn Scholarship in email

3/29/10 - Withdrew from Vandy.

Sometime in April - Chicago it is!

Nice to see another BYU applicant. You've got a great set of schools there and a great chance to get into all of them. Do you have a top choice? Good luck with the cycle.

Congrats on the great scholarship offers! I'm curious to know where you're leaning? Definitely going for a T14 or is BYU still in the picture?
