E-mail UVA admissions and ask them for a fee waiver. Trust me, you will get one.... well worth the 3 minutes. :)
i just assumed all schools accepted it (except for stanford, which is strange). UVA sent me a merit fee waiver today though, just in case you were interested. i'll let you know if i find anything re: UT. cheers!
Pulling for you man- I am watching your cycle closely. Let me know how your Sep test scores come back.
Best of luck to you :-)
Why the switch from accounting to law?
Best of luck to you as well. Do you have a favorite?
Hey doubleT13. Honestly, it all seems miraculous to me. I'm the praying type, so I guess that is what I'd point to first and foremost (although I realize this isn't a satisfactory answer to most people out there). By way of a more secular explanation, I'd just say that the straight (LSAT/GPA) numbers -- despite what the overwhelming majority of people tend to say on this site -- don't have to tell the whole story. My academic record is stronger than what the plain GPA value would otherwise suggest, which I accounted for (along with my ridiculously troubled history of standardized testing that has thus far been comically unpredictive of my academic performance in the classroom) in an addendum. That along with some strong recommendation letters and a flawless transcript in my master's program may have reassured them on the academic potential side of things. Regarding the diversity/ unique contribution to the law school consideration (i.e., the other primary concern for adcomms), I just went for it in the personal statement, describing my somewhat unusual passions (which are backed up by my resume, awards, and recommendation letters). In sum, if the LSAT is low, make the rest of the package strong (if you can honestly do so, that is). Admissions officers aren't dumb; if you can make a strong enough case for yourself academically and in terms of your unique voice, they will sometimes make exceptions to the general rule. Hope that helps.
Thanks, I think I have decided I am going to apply to Yale, I just have to write their 250 essay thing now. Hopefully I can get it done before it is too late. Good luck!
New LSAT scores any day now.... : )
Good job buddy, I'm proud of your LSAT score...You're gonna have a great shot at Stanford. Good luck!
Hey nice new score!!! I'm a glutton for punishment I guess....going in for round three in Dec. haha
Congrats on the new score man. Sure wish I had your GPA!
Hopefully we can show these liberal arts majors a thing or two, but seriously good luck to you as well.
Thanks! I got an email saying that I went complete about a week ago. Looks like you go to BYU. I do too!
Yea, one of them's Mandarin (barely). Best of luck to you too! I'm sure you'll do great.
Nothing much to report. I was called last week by Dean Schwartz who let me know the good news. Good luck on UCLA as well all your schools
Thanks! You as well! And congrats on your fee waivers! How did you pull all of those off? LSAC waiver?
Good luck to you as well. Congrats on all those fee waivers too. Are they from an LSAC waiver?
Thanks :). I actually do not know how long my application was under review, but I did get a complete e-mail towards the end of September. That means I was probably in the first batch.
I'm really excited to be in. If money weren't an issue, I'd withdraw everywhere else and call it a day. Honestly, if Virginia gave me one dime in grants/merit aid, I'd be looking for apartments right now. You're a lock with your numbers. Good luck!
For the congrats! I think you have many to come :)
Appreciate the encouragement. Looks like you should have no problem this cycle.
congrats on W&M and UVA. All that work is gonna pay huge dividends for you and your family.
Thanks! These acceptances are validating my complete neglect of my schoolwork at the beginning of the semester to get my apps out as early as possible. Congrats on UVA! Are you a Virginia resident?
Yea, I just feel a bit better protected showing them as I go along. Nice job with your early acceptances!!
Was quite surprised they started rolling out decisions this early. But am thrilled, as I love Michigan and it definitely ranks amongst my top choices. Good luck with your cycle as well!
Yep. Just need some time off from school to finish my PS/DS. Then hopefully by mid-December I should be in. Good luck with your apps.
And by the way, what are you gonna do about your CPA? This 1 year work experiece requirement is probably going to prevent me from getting certified..
And congratulations to you on your acceptances. I submitted non-binding early decision to UT.
Good luck to you to Mr. Big GPA. Surprised you didn't get a priority track invite. I'll trade you Duke for UVA
I thought I wold have closer to full as well. My LSAT is higher than I have listed but my GPA lower. Good luck the rest of this cycle. Are you in-state for UVA?
Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate that.
In at UVA as well as of this morning!
Thanks! I'm probably the most shocked person about all of this. I mean, my numbers are pretty good... but I certainly didn't think I was an auto-admit :)
We'll see if my excitement over the JR1 is warranted this week. Congrats on UCLA though, that's a nice 120K!
Nice job with the UCLA scholly! Too bad their tuition rates are going up through the stratosphere. Still, $120K can assuage the pain a bit:)
How come you didn't ED? If you don't mind me asking...
I really don't understand Cornell's logic here... guess it is a yield protect, but why not offer $ in that situation. Anyway, consider it a minor bump in what is otherwise shaping up to be a fantastic cycle. Best of luck!
As to Iowa v. UVA, money will be a consideration. So if Iowa offers full and UVA offers nothing, I might. Anything different than that, probably not. Congratulations on what looks to be a great cycle, btw. I foresee 2 probable top 5 acceptances for you.
Congrats on a fantastic cycle so far!!
I would attend Iowa only if the financial incentive makes it too hard to give up. I actually like the school more than Illinois. Ask me again when the acceptance packet actually arrives and I see if money is coming with the deal. Way to bat 1000 so far. You are well on your way.
Same- I think decisions are coming soon, or so rumor has it.
Hope you get in your top choice! I visited Stanford and it is gorgeous, your numbers sure make you a great candidate!
Probably 3 weeks or a month. Good luck!
Thanks for the congrats. My last UR for Penn was 11/12, but I think that was an update from sometime in late October. Good luck with your cycle, you should be fine.
thanks for the congrats. impressive numbers. good luck on the rest of your cycle
Review date was around Thanksgiving and then updated around 12/14 ish.
Just curious as to the vibe you get from BYU law? The $10K/year tuition makes it such an attractive option...and with your scholarship, it'll probably be free. Congrats on that.
Way to go man - I am sure it will complicate things for your decision process, but it is a great option to have. It sounds like the exact same advice I was given, without the sizable scholarship bit.
Thanks for the well wishes on my cycle. You've appeared to clean up very well so far, so that gives me some hope. I'm just praying that applying late doesn't hurt my chances for admissions offers or money.
We're not quite sure. Duke is our first choice at this point, but hopefully there'll be at least one or two more options among Harvard, Berkeley, UVA, Michigan, and Chicago. I'm not quite sure how that will turn out though. I'm sorry to see that Harvard dinged you. Did you get a JR1 at some point? Where are you leaning?
I'm not quite sure yet. We're playing our cards close the table. Hopefully more information to evaluate (acceptances, scholarships) will help us make a decision. Where are you headed this weekend?
Can't really say that I'm "leaning" anywhere right now. Obviously cost, prestige, career goals, and career opportunities will all play a factor. When we get the list narrowed down a bit my wife and I would like to visit some of them. Give us a report on the visits to your different schools!
Congratulations on the latest round of acceptances! Any leanings one way or another?
Yeah . . . funny how we should be in the exact same situation. Oh well. It'll all work out.
So, is it petty of me to reload your profile multiple times each day just so you can be one of the "most viewed" profiles on LSN? We should chat soon--NV said you had a good time this last weekend.
Dividends indeed! I'm very grateful I chose to retake, as I'm sure you are. If we hadn't, we wouldn't have received so many great opportunities. That being said, I think there is tangible evidence that three times has hurt my cycle to some degree (especially with Michigan), but it's still working out great.
Thank you! I was pretty thrilled when I got the call. BK mentioned he's writing a letter for you to Wharton. That would be SO AWESOME! What are the odds you get in? With your substantive work experience, I bet you have a good shot. Is the GMAT waived in lieu of the LSAT? When you do get accepted, it would be really, really tough to turn that down. What an opportunity! Keep me posted. :)
Don't worry about the waitlist--after all, your not-as-good-looking doppelganger was already there. I'm sure Chicago will figure out that they really want two of you and entice your attendance with some serious $$$. :)
Hey--congrats on the 60k from Duke! That's awesome. Hopefully something like that is coming my way soon. Does this affect your leanings in any way?
Congrats on the UVA scholly! That should be a pretty awesome deal once need-based aid gets tossed in. Certainly this affects your preferences quite a bit, barring some huge offer from Penn, Chicago, or something. Let me know.
Wow! Tough decision! I'm glad you're making it and not me. How does this change things? Is the UVA visit basically going to make your decision? Good luck!
Eh, not really, but I live in the Bay Area and I want to go to the Berkeley ASW next weekend before I withdraw. At this point, for me, it's down to Stanford (vs. Yale if I get in).
Yes, it would be cool. We'll see. My guess is I get the WL, but you never know.
Thanks for the congrats. So...we're down to the wire here, have you decided where you'll be in the fall?
Hey man! Sorry about the waitlist.
It's good to see the "A" next to UVA on your profile now!
Can I ask how you scored so many fee waivers? In particular Washington and Utah? Let me know. Thanks
