Additional info & updates

my first lsat probably won't be a factor too much (I hope) since it was from 99.

6/15/05: I applied to way more schools than I (in retrospect) needed to, but I applied for need based fee waivers so paid for almost none of them (though I ate it in LSDAS report fees and I made the mistake of submitted Needs Access reports to everyone way before I got decisions when I really didn't need to). Given the uncertainty of my status as 5 years out of undergrad and with two pretty different LSATs pretty far apart in time, I would do it that way again. However, if I did it again I would do a better job researching LRAP programs in advance, to save myself some heartache. Penn didn't give me any money and their LRAP stops at a per year limit of $10,000, so I said forget it--I don't want $50,000 of debt on a PI salary!

I withdrew from the Columbia reserve list as soon as I got a look at their sorry ass LRAP.

UVA is by far the best money deal: $39,000 in scholarships and I couldn't ask for better LRAP, but I'm still holding out hope for NYU because of the NYC opportunities.

6/16/05 Got that Mich waitlist email asking if I continue interested. I'm probably going to decline. Their LRAP isn't as exciting as UVA's and I already put a deposit on an apt in CVille. I guess I could check if Mich offers aid to waitlistees but I doubt there'd be much that can compare w/ what UVA's offering.

6/23/05 NYU waitlisted me 4/28/05 and rejected off the waitlist 6/15/05. I am shocked and saddened, but this is what I get for not applying early I guess! Anyway, now I can rest about my decision to go to UVA and not wonder if NYU is going to accept me at the eleventh hour. It's a bit of a relief.

I didn't get a call. I was admitted to PILP out of 620 applicants to a class of 25. So, it was more competitive than I would have expected for a non-scholarship public interest program. I would have loved to be in it if I had gotten one of their 2 scholarships, but I don't like the looks of UCLA's LRAP.
