Additional info & updates

4-5: Visits are done and I'm officially in love with Berkeley! The money at Illinois is still difficult to turn down though so I'm going to really think about what the best move is now. I have about a month to figure this out and will probably use up every day!

3-10: Looks like my cycle is over (unless I get off some waitlists). 6-2-4 is way better than anything I could've imagined. Time to start going to ASWs. I can't make Berkeley's or Illinois' but I'll be at Vandy's and will fly out on my own to Cali and Urbana.

3-3: Just went under review at USC as of yesterday. Weird. Rejected by Duke which is fine - I applied on a whim. I should've kept that $92 because I never really wanted to go there. Withdrew from Cornell because I wouldn't go there over Berkeley in a million years. Plan to withdraw from George Washington and UCLA in the next couple of days. Will send in LOCIs to UT, UVA, and GULC. Registered for Vandy's ASP and plan to visit Illinois and Berkeley on my own since I can't go to their weekends. Looks like it's down to three schools unless a Waitlist acceptance magically appears.

2-18: Rejected at NYU. Kind of disappointed but I can't say I didn't see it coming. Priority waitlisted at Georgetown. Damn. This one hurts. Beginning to feel like my acceptance to Berkeley was a fluke.

2-16: Woke up to a WL email from UT. Pretty disappointed because the in-state tuition is great, I have good friends who attend, and I might want to come back to TX after law school. Debating now whether to stay on the WL.

2-15: Missed the Fedex guys yesterday and kept getting ASW emails from Vandy this afternoon. I was hesitant to celebrate until I picked up my admit packet from my apt office. Huzzah!!!

2-10: Finally e-mailed my LOCI to NYU. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

2-5: Sent in a LOCI early last week to UT. Writing one today to NYU and hoping both will help my chances. With 7 schools left to hear back from, I'm dreading getting nothing but waitlists or rejections. Don't get me wrong, Berkeley is great and I'm so excited but I was hoping for some other T14 options. Waitlisted at UCLA last night but I'd pick Berkeley over UCLA any day.

1-31: Waitlisted at UVA. Withdrawing from Northwestern. That hold letter just really rubbed me the wrong way.

1-27: Received decision update from Northwestern placing my application on hold. Should I wish to be placed on their hold list, the admissions committee will not render a decision until May?!?! This is ridiculous.

1-11: LOCI sent to Georgetown. Hope it works!!

12-22: Accepted to GW! Another great early Christmas present!

12-21: Deferred to Cornell's RD pool. I'm not that surprised - guess it's better than a rejection.

12-13: On such a high right now. I can't believe I cracked the top 10. Thank you Berkeley for a great early Christmas present!

12-10: Can't believe it - accepted to Illinois with a guaranteed $40,000 for all three years!!! Feeling blessed!

12-4: Just checked and all of a sudden I'm under review at NYU. I don't know how I missed the 'Complete' status. Nervous that my first rejection is just around the corner but keeping my fingers crossed.

12-3: Had my Georgetown alumni interview. It wasn't great but it wasn't terrible I guess. I hope I made a good enough impression to improve my chances of getting in.

11-23: IN AT OHIO STATE ON MY BIRTHDAY!!

11-9: Held at UT via e-mail. Damn - I feel like I won't be able to breathe until I get the first acceptance. E-mail from Georgetown asking me to do an alumni interview. Maybe that evens UT's decision. Maybe.

10-29: Done. Let the waiting game begin.

10-26: I only have the GWU and one more NU optional essay left. Hopefully I can get those in by Thursday. My bank account is in a sad state of affairs but hopefully it'll be worth it!

10-20: Hit submit on the first few apps. Trying to wrap up these optional essays that really aren't so optional for Georgetown, UCLA, NYU, Vanderbilt, and Illinois. Strugglefest.

10 -18: Had interviews for Vanderbilt and Northwestern this weekend. Vanderbilt was great, very relaxed and I'm more sold on the school. My Northwestern alum was crazy. We spent most of the time talking about her divorce and health problems. Not sure what to think about that one....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Didn't do as well as I wanted to on the LSAT. I didn't do that well on my SAT/ACTs either though so I'll be writing an addendum. Hoping that a stellar app will help offset any bias.

Congrats on Berkeley! That's my dream school!

Hey girl! Wow, congratulations on Berkeley! You must be a pretty amazing applicant to get in there early! I'm not sure about Georgetown. At first I was optimistic, but then I discovered that a whole lot of other people I know had been deferred, so it may not be so small a group as they had led us to believe. Fingers crossed for both of us though, and congratulations again!

Well, Yale is my pipedream first choice, but I'll see if I managed to pull my LSAT up a little bit with the December retake. After Yale, it's Harvard and Columbia, but honestly, I'll be thrilled with most choices I get in the T14. I'm not sure about visiting- if the choice isn't a no-brainer, then I'd definitely visit to make my final choice. Def won't be visiting them all though! What's your first choice? Do you plan on visiting/going to any ASWs? I'm so confused about GT- I have no idea what a "Hold" means. I think they do want to compare us to the rest of the pool, and we still have a decent shot, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Good luck with Cornell! Keep me updated! <3

LSAT addendum

Hi! Congrats on all of your acceptances and scholarships. Can you tell me what type of information you are providing in your LSAT addendum? I'm in a similar situation.

Aww, sorry to hear about Cornell. But take heart; a deferral is definitely not a death sentence! Plus I think their applicant pool doubled in size last year, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're being more cautious this year. Not that you need them anyway, with Berk under your belt. ;) I'd love to visit as many schools as I can, but I'll really have to see what I can afford. That's awesome that you have the funds to visit widely, definitely do it, the feel of a school is so important! Oh, and FYI: I'm based in DC and visited GULC today and spoke the Special Assistant to the Dean. She said we should hear any day now about the hold, but it definitely helps to send a Letter of Continuing Interest and make sure they know you're really keen. I'll probably write one this weekend, because I want to have as many options as possible. What's your first choice by the way? And congratulations on GW! You're so rocking this cycle. ;-) xo

Hey girl, just checking up on you. It looks like your cycle has gone really well! Have you gone to any ASWs yet? I'm off to Columbia's next week and that's about it- can't afford to go to all of them and still waiting on other schools, so we'll see. Congrats again on all your amazing acceptances! :D
