Additional info & updates

9 months ago (August 2009) I was an education major, starting Student Teaching, and okay with that career path. I had thought about law school for a long time, but it was a risk, and I'm not a risk taker. I took a practice LSAT, got a 165, and realized it maybe wasn't such a risk...and so the journey began. The 173 (Dec. 09 LSAT) blew me away. Out of the 27 practice tests I took, my highest score was a 174, and the other 26 were anywhere from 161-172. (Yeah, I'm a little OCD and kept statistics!) 173 was my second highest score, and it happened on the day of the test. Hopefully that (being clutch!) carries over to LS Exams!

I guess without the T14 (and really, even at some of those) I was never really going to leave Atlanta. I love the city, want to practice here, and I love Emory.

Harvard would change my mind, but it's not going to happen. NYU probably wouldn't change my mind.

I think people tend to underestimate the power of being happy with your choice. I could have taken the scholarship at WUSTL, and been miserable in St. Louis for three years. I think the fact that I will be happy staying in Atlanta will make me a more successful law student which will translate to higher post-LS earning power, and negate the difference in scholarship money between Emory and WUSTL.
