12 nov - got a phone call today from the director of admissions at fsu advising me that i had been admitted. nice to have a yes to start my admissions cycle. also under review at uga as of this evening. been under review at berkeley for a few days now, but don't anticipate hearing back from them anytime soon.
13 nov - was going through my various status checkers this morning and came across a "congratulations! you have been admitted" at uga. great way to start the day.
18 nov - haven't heard anything all week, trying to remain sane. had my vandy interview monday. it was a lot of fun; i met with a young alumnus at his law firm. went complete at ucla yesterday. hopefully will have more updates soon.
2 dec - under review at davis as of a few days ago and got my complete email from emory just now. have been communicating with my vandy interviewer since we met & i'm more and more interested. hope to hear from more schools in the next few weeks!
3 dec - up late & decided to review my status checkers on a whim... saw that i got dinged at ut. kind of sad for my first denial, but not surprised considering the numbers they seem to be going for this cycle. not too disappointed, but could definitely use some cheering up from other schools, yeah??
4 dec - under review at uh. it should be a quick decision, so hopefully i'll hear in the next few days. could use a few acceptances to soften the blow from my ut no.
14 dec - finally under review at duke, yaay! i applied to their jd/llm program. maybe i'll hear a yes before christmas??? decision rendered at uh this afternoon. they haven't informed anyone of decisions yet, so i'm not sure how they plan on informing applicants... we'll wait and see.
16 dec - admitted to uh today via status checker. not really a surprise, but nice anyway.
11 jan - another unsurprising admit - uc hastings. i was more excited about a lot of these schools when i applied but the more i learn the more my enthusiasm wanes. (uch for example being located in such an inviting part of town.) visited vandy recently - the campus was beautiful. met with an admission rep (already did my interview in nov), now have several statements that bounce around in my head to the tune of 'why did you say that, you idiot!!??!?' i'm sure i'm over-thinking it. (hope so.) sent my scholly app off for vandy today, no chance of getting any of the full rides, but i said i'd apply and didn't wanna seem lazy. hope if it's used as additional material for application review that i didn't say anything dumb/have any mistakes. not going to review it again considering there's nothing i can do about it now. could really use a yes that i'm excited about.
27 jan - status updated at smu yesterday to a new complete date, historical data shows that it's a good sign i'll be getting a yes soon. yaay for movement somewhere... it's been much too quiet lately. have yet to receive a fr or reject email from berkeley - would love to know what is going on there. i've been ur at duke since 12/14 - please just say yes already!! you too, vandy. ugh.....
1 feb - received my wl letter from vandy today. was expecting it, so i wasn't disappointed. would love to get admitted eventually, will pursue it more/less depending on what i hear from my other top choices. got my acceptance phone call on friday (29 jan) from smu, the lady (bonnie) was really nice. she said scholly information should be coming out in the next few weeks. once i start getting scholly information from schools that i've been admitted to i'll be able to begin deciding where to withdraw. hope i'll be hearing from the rest of my schools soon so that i can start making real decisions.
14 feb - visited three schools last week - one that i enjoyed, one that i would enjoy with money, and one that i didn't really fall in love with. sent my notice to vandy stating that i would love to remain on their wl. got my smu information packet; need scholly info before i really take the time to consider it. hope to hear from duke & emory in the next few weeks (and expect it from the things i've heard). planning on withdrawing from one school this week, but waiting to hear scholly information before i withdraw from any others.
20 feb - got my scholly offer from smu today. it's still marginally more expensive than uga (and ranked lower), and i would have to have a car (which i don't want because of the hassle), but i am interested nonetheless. i don't know how open they would be to increasing the scholly - going to look more into the school first to decide if it would be worth the trouble of trying. anybody knowledgeable about smu's process that wants to give advice, i would really appreciate it. got my rejection email from duke yesterday, was pretty disappointed since i thought i'd be a pretty solid candidate for the jd/llm program, but the numbers they want for students in that program aren't very available, so my thought process could have been way off.
24 feb - admitted to emory yesterday by phone call. a very nice distraction from an otherwise terrible day (having nothing to do with law school anything). anxiously waiting for the admit packet and (hopefully) a scholly offer in the mail. with a reasonable scholly it could definitely become a top choice for me... no scholly and iono - it would be a really tough sell. withdrew from a few schools recently - FSU & UC Hastings. I felt bad sending my withdraw notices because of the efforts put into wooing me and all of the nice people at both institutions. hopefully my giving up a seat will make room for somebody else though.
27 feb - received my scholly offer from emory today - $60k. pretty sure this makes them the big winner, but gonna wait some of the last few out to make sure i don't change my mind. sending a few withdrawal letters out this week though for schools i'm certain won't be winning. hooray for more certainty - so tired of trying not to get excited about any particular school.
1 mar - sent more application withdrawal notices today... also submitted the stupid needaccess form just in case. pretty sure i'll be going to emory this fall barring any upsets (of the monetary kind) from the schools from which i have yet to hear. gonna hold on to my backup option until i visit again just to make sure i really love it (sorry to everyone waiting... hope you understand!!).
15 mar - wl at ucla last week sometime, will be withdrawing as soon as i get the motivation to fill out the form. not in a really big rush because i know it's not keeping them from putting others on the wl considering they hand those out to everyone. glad my cycle is winding down. still not in review at usc, complete for 17 weeks now. no news yet from davis or unc either. maybe we can wrap this up in the next few weeks, eh admissions?? getting pretty excited about emory, but the reality of 'oh my gosh, i'm gonna be back in school! what if i invest all of this money and hate it or am just totally not competent and then i have lots of loans and no job?!!??' is setting in. and then i go research highlighters and apartment communities to calm myself...
16 mar - wl today at usc (after never having gone into review). just sent out three withdrawal emails - usc, ucla, & uga. two schools yet to hear back from, and then it's all over, wow!
22 mar - admitted to uc davis the other day via status checker (and subsequent mailing) & wl email from unc today. will withdraw from both. sooo excited that i've heard from everyone and that my cycle is over! i hope my mini journal has been helpful for others this cycle & that it will continue to be helpful for future applicants... i will be attending emory this fall and received notification yesterday via email that my first deposit was processed. yaay!
i totally understand that i'm taking someone else's place by holding onto these acceptances if i don't intend to go, but i may still attend any of them depending on responses from the rest of my schools. i promise i'll withdraw from any schools the moment i know for sure that i won't be attending... i hope your cycle is going well!!
