Additional info & updates

Took the first LSAT cold. Prepared well for the second (167/168 average on practice tests), but test day didn't go as planned

Currently working full time with a law firm. Hoping some soft factors - recs and essays - will carry a lot of weight

* 02/10/07 - Acceptance letters from Miami and Cincinnati today

* 02/21/07 - Scholarship offer from Cincinnati ($12,000/year)

* 03/02/07 - Officially rejected from Notre Dame

* 03/07/07 - Officially getting very anxious to hear back from some of these schools

* 03/08/07 - Acceptance letter from Temple today. Scholarship offer enclosed ($12,000/year)

* 03/15/07 - It's been 7-8 weeks and the jury's still out on six schools. I think I have a solid shot with three of them and a slim, but still possible, chance with the other three. I'd love to stay in Columbus, so it's disappointing that OSU is yet to respond. Out of the three currently on the board, I'd have to say that Cincy looks the most appealing with a decent mix of financial incentives (in-state tuition + scholarship $$) and a strong regional reputation.

* 03/16/07 - Waitlisted at Wake Forest via awkward e-mail. This one's disappointing.

* 03/21/07 - Ohio State Status Check went to decision today. The moment of truth is near.

* 03/22/07 - Acceptance letter from Boston College today. That certainly blindsided me. After a rejection letter from Notre Dame and a frantic waitlist e-mail from Wake Forest, a large BC envelope appeared in my mailbox. BC's certainly an expensive proposition, but still enticing.

* 03/26/07 - Phone call from Ohio State Admissions Office notifying me of my acceptance. Also received acceptance letter in the mail today. While money will be a factor on my decision, it looks like it'll come down to BC, OSU, and Cincy (I would certainly love to consider Texas and GW, but at this point in the cycle I'm far from confident that I'll be accepted at either). I'll probably withdraw from Alabama and Miami soon and Temple looks like it's on the chopping block as well.

* 03/27/07 - Officially withdrew my applications from Wake Forest and Alabama and declined offers of admission at Temple and Miami.

* 03/30/07 - Officially declined Cincinnati's offer of admission. While it was a bit difficult to turn down their scholarship offer, I just couldn't see myself choosing Cincy over OSU or BC. It's disappointing that I haven't heard either way from UT or GW yet, but it looks like I'll either be in Columbus or Boston in the fall.

Ohio State financial aid info came today as well ($9,000 in scholarships for all three years with some additional grant aid to help bridge the gap).

* 04/02/07 - Rejection letter from Texas. No surprise there.

* 04/10/07 - Waiting on financial aid package for BC. Hopefully it'll come in the next day or two and make my decision a little easier.

* 04/12/07 - BC numbers came through today ($60,000 grant/scholarship aid) and they make a good case for moving out to Boston. I need to get some clarifications regarding a couple portions of my conditional award, but all things considered, I think the fiance and I are leaning toward New England.

* 04/13/07 - And that's all she wrote. It's Friday the 13th and I've officially decided to attend BC this fall. I'll be sending in my deposit in the next couple days. Very excited!

* 04/17/07 - Official rejection from GW arrived today - not that it matters much at this point.

Congrats on getting in to OSU. I may be seeing you there, depending on a variety of circumstances for both of us, it seems. The more I look into OSU, the more pleased I am.

Hell yeah BC!
