Additional info & updates

Fall 2009... go. Hope my experience/frustration/etc. can be of use to someone else also along for the ride.

As of:

3/20/09: And the inevitable rejection from The H. Via email. Saw that coming a good mile away, but I had to try. Still on hold at NU and waitlist at GULC. Narrows things down. All in all, happy with my cycle. Hope everyone else feels the same way.

3/19/09: Rejection from Columbia in the mail. Makes me feel good that I didn't get just summarily dismissed. Long shot anyways.

2/17/09: On "Hold" at Northwestern. They're giving me a chance to prove I'm interested and worth a spot in the class. OK, let's do this.

2/4/09: Withdrew myself from the BU and Wisconsin waitlists - not going to go to either school even if I were to get in. Maybe someone else will get a chance as a result.

1/31/09: Waitlisted at Wisconsin, small white envelope. More importantly, got my packet from GW today - complete with a note written to me on the acceptance letter.

1/27/09: Accepted at GW via email - packet in the mail yesterday apparently. Exciting!

1/26/09: Waitlisted at BU, small white envelope.

1/22/09: Waitlisted at UVa via email.

1/15/09: Rejected at Chicago, small white envelope. I mean, I could have seen that one coming, because of my grades, but that still sucks. Oh well, win some, lose some. 7 more schools to hear from. Not that my choices so far are too shabby at all.

1/12/09: Called the GULC admissions office to let them know that I'm still very interested despite the waitlisting, because I am. Chicago status checker went to "decision pending." Does anyone know what this means exactly?

1/3/09: Waitlisted at Georgetown; small white envelope. Considering I fall at the extreme low end of their scale of grades, LSDAS-calculated or not, I'll call it a minor victory. I may actually try to fight in on this one...

12/26.08: Acceptance from U of I in a big white envelope, forwarded from my school address, they want to give me the same amount of money as MN.

12/18/08: Rejection letter from BC. That's harsh... OK, 9 more to go.

12/13/08: Waitlisted at ND - small white envelope. Not sure how to react. A guy I know argued his way off the waitlist at GW last year... maybe that's the way to go?

12/8/08: Letter from MN - they want to give me a briefcase of money. I'm excited. Number is for all three years combined.

11/25/08: In at Minnesota! Got a call from Julie, the director of admissions. Yes! Starting things off on a good note! Wonder if I'll hear from the other state schools soon?

Don't bang to hard. It took forever for my LOR's to make it. You'll be fine.

LSDAS grades

I'm sorry to hear you had the same problem with grades. It was quite a surprise when I realized my college GPA wasn't going to be my LSDAS GPA. Just waiting on my LSAT scores from the October test date as of now, my posted score was my highest practice. Your list of schools is for the most part where I would want to go if my numbers were a little better. Good luck to you, I hope you get in where you want to be!
