What a long, strange road its been. The very first school I was interested in was the one I'm going to end up going to. Sending in the withdrawls to FSU and MU tomorrow, so if you're on the waitlist at either of those places, I won't be in your way. This isn't anywhere close to how I thought it would end up, but I'm thrilled and can't wait for the fall. Go Ducks and good luck to everyone still waiting for news... Thank God its over!!!!

Can't swing Oregon's day on campus on saturday unfortunately. Its just too soon to swing it either with money or with work. I'll check it out as soon as I can though.

Can't help wondering about FSU and UNM. I applied to FSU back in January and UNM in Feb and I really thought by this point I'd know what I was doing for sure. I just don't think I can take too many more suspense-filled walks down to the mailbox. Ohhh well. I do have some good options at least

4/20

Well that complicated matters! I just got an acceptance via snail mail from Oregon!! Their prospective student day is this saturday... So I have to scramble to get out there. Its not cheap to fly out there, but I need to see what Oregon is like before I decide between either UO or Marquette. I hope I get there and just KNOW one way or the other which to pick... I can't take much more indecision. Oh and speaking of indecision-- Why haven't FSU and New Mex made their decisions?? If I don't hear soon I'll have to put down my second deposit at Marquette (or possibly my first at UO) and it won't matter what they decide.

4/6
Got a letter last friday from South Carolina waitlisting me. That was a bit of a surprise, I thought I would get in there outright. Called Alabama to check on my status and got the bad news directly....disappointing but not unexpected. I thought maybe my visit there would help considering I met the dean and others, I held out hope that fact might help make me an exceptional case, but with how many applications they are getting this year, it just didn't happen. Also called New Mexico and FSU. My file is in review at NM and "ready" for review at FSU. No new word from Lewis and clark or Oregon. I'll have to call them soon, but as of now Marquette appears very likely.

3/30
Checked my status at Tenn. today and it is now blank!! It has said "review" for the last two months, and now there is nothing except a little typed message near the top of the page that says "an update to your status has been mailed to you"...thats all! Why even HAVE a status checker if they DISABLE IT WHEN THEY MAKE A DECISION?!

anyway i'm on the edge of my seat for that. Definitely going to visit Marquette and Arkansas unless something changes drastically in the next week or two. I'll also be declining my offers from Idaho and MSU wednesday when I'm off work, so good luck to anyone waiting on those! More to come...and hopefully soon!!

3/22

I heard from Idaho and Illinois last week and Marquette a few weeks before that. I found out from U of I when Illinois's status update page came up as "denied." Ouch. I got a letter putting it a little more delicately a few days later. Idaho let me know via email and then snail mail a few days later. Marquette sent a letter. Small nondescript envelope.

As a bit of extra info: Marquette, MSU, and Idaho have sent me a lot of stuff. Both in the mail and over the web. Arkansas has sent me a lot less. No money from Marquette unfortunately. Idaho looks like no as well, not sure yet. I have to let these schools know by April... so i'm getting really antsy. Need to find out soon!!

2/4/09-

Sooo firefox won't load this page, if I use it on IE though it works....whatever. Anyway, I've received 2 aps back so far. Arkansas I found out via snail mail. They sent the acceptance letter and the "out of state scholarship" in two separate envelopes on the same day.

Michigan State called today when I was out, and then emailed me later. Soooo two down! wooooo

1/15/09-

Okay. score went up 4 points, taking me from the 60th to the 75th percentile. Not amazing, but good enough I hope. I sent out about 1/3 of my applications I want to so far, and should finish up the mailings in a few days. Starting to get nervous!

12/09- I took the test again on Dec. 6th and I think it went pretty well. I was getting consistently between a 161 and a 164 on my practice tests before the second test, with one outlier at a 172, so hopefully I did alright. As long as I improve a few points over my 154 I'm happy. Anything else is just a bonus. Soooo now I polish my personal statement and play the waiting game...

10/28- First update on the process.

Well I'll be damned. I studied, I took a class, but I was still done in on test day by my nerves. I scored a 154. Not horribly awful by any stretch, but well below the 160 or so I had been getting. It didn't help that I think I did the best on the experimental section lol. The only thing left to do is retake the test... which I'm REALLY thrilled about. December 6th, here we come... hope it goes better the next time around. Good luck to everyone who got the score they wanted and will be applying now, I'll be there (relatively) soon!

Was that the only change to your GPA?

I can't believe you lost .5 GPA points in the conversion. Did you have quite a few failed classes that you retook? How about withdraws, do they count? Anyway, good luck!

It's true, I lost .24 on mine, and I don't even go to a big public school. I'm electing to add a page explaining it to my applications. Good luck.

LSAT

I sure hope it helps. I am currently taking Testmasters in advance for the Dec 2008. The real indicator of success or failure for the class in terms of usefulness is whether they provide a adequate system for Logic Games. I am golden in all areas besides LGs. What was your strategy for tackling the LSAT? How fast was your progress? A 165 is a very impressive score.

Thanks

You too, I hope that your LSAT comes back spectacularly.

I had the same thing happen with my GPA. I started off in engineering at Illinois and switched. My U of I GPA is a 3.57 and my LSDAS GPA is a 3.3. I have also included an addendum. Good luck.

That's too bad.

If the experimentals trip you up, you can find some PTs that include them. Testmasters provided Dec 04 with a experimental section. I would also make sure that you are taking PTs that are very recent. The Games have become much easier but the Reading Comp has become much harder in comparison with the test of the 90s. I'm studying for Dec 08 too. Best of luck!

Experimental section
Wednesday, December 17 2008 at 07:00 PM

Hey. Does the experimental section of the LSAT count toward your overall score? I had been thinking that they only grade the three sections (LR, LG, and RC)... Good luck!

Friday, January 09 2009 at 07:00 PM

we have almost identical stats-- i took the october LSAT and got a 155 (re-took it in dec, got a 158)-- even though i too had been getting prep test scores between 160-164. oh well. i went to a big state school & was invovled in my sorority as well! haha. good luck to you! i hope it all works out :)

Thanks

Hey. Thanks for the advice back on Jan 10! I haven't been on here in forever. I was curious about the exp section so that's good to know! Do you know what school your going to?
