I can't recall exactly when, but I believe it was in early to mid March. Sadly, I didn't realize the advantages of applying PT when I first submitted my application. Hindsight!

Yes, I sent UMN a nice LOCI explaining why I wanted to go there. I hear they like to know what you like about them.

wustl & $

I was kind of surprised I didn't get in WUSTL right away, but they apparently got more commitments than they were expecting. I _was_ surprised that after being on the WL, I'd get off of it with $, and so I never visited the school when I was out at UIUC. Now it's another long drive to make. UMN scholarship came after a talk with the dean of the law school over the phone. It was a nice gesture, but it was still far more expensive. Original UIUC scholarship was $30k; original IU-B scholarship was $25.5k. I did a bit of negotiating.

Are we the same person?

I wish I had the same luck as you w/ some of these schools. Can I ask what you said to the dean that prompted her to offer $$ at UMN? I'm visiting there this weekend for the first time. Maybe I'll try to negotiate a little $$ myself. Good luck making your decision. How long do you have to decide on WUSTL?

Good luck on negotiating a scholarship. UMN doesn't give out much money, but like the other two schools I had had $ offers from, they love to compete and will consider offering money if they are aware of other offers. Given your circumstances, I don't think you'll have another school for them to compete with, and they'll feel no monetary obligations. I think you'll like UMN, though. The last ASW was very good. WUSTL gave no time limit to decide. It seems they're treating me like any other admitted student, except the deposit deadlines are all passed... :)

I don't know

I really wish I had decided by now, but I go back and forth daily. Thanks for your input. My reservations with UofA have to do with the fact that they only have one intro patent class, whereas UMN actually has a very good IP program. Also, UMN has the whole 2L legal writing program that you probably know about. The only advantages to UofA are its cost and the fact that it's local. I have no idea what I'm going to decide, but I know I have to decide in the next few days. How good did it feel for you once you finally just made the decision?
