Additional info & updates

10/27 - UNB by snail mail; full scholarship by snail mail as well, about a week later

11/21 - MSU by email; full scholarship by phone and snail mail (came with acceptance letter)

12/15 - good snail mail day - acceptance packages from Alberta and American. Time to start prioritizing my options.

12/19 - Manitoba by e-mail.

12/29 - back from holidays to snail mail acceptance and Xmas card from Georgetown. Went to decision on the 22nd.

1/5 - ASU by snail mail...phew! I was starting to get nervous. Scholarship with the package; breakdown - FT/20/20.

1/24 - Alabama by e-mail. Status checker went to decision on the 20th like everyone else.

1/26 - in at Toronto by phone call.

1/27 - admitted e-mail from GW.

end Jan - final LOR is officially processed, after a few unfortunate snafus. Time to finish off the cycle.

As if on cue...

2/5 - in at Temple via status checker.

Started withdrawing today (2/11)...I'd love to get a final decision made ASAP, but so much depends on the financial aid picture that I can't let too many places go until that all clears up.

2/12 - packet from Temple with 15K/year scholarship. That's not going to work for me, since I'm out of state. I'll sleep on it, but it'll probably be a quick W.

umm...okay, what's news? Oh yeah:

2/18 - in at UVA by the usual email followed by phone convo. Good news - I'd love to go if I can, but the money situation's looking not great.

[EDIT: 2/20 - in at Mason via phone call.]

2/23 - no GULC scholarship, so I'll be W-ing. Not totally unexpected. Also looks like I missed out on the first round of GW offers. That one hurts, but I'm staying in and seeing what happens.

2/26 - good news this morning! I-L-L-

2/27 - in at Arizona with Perry Rogers scholarship. Very excited - and now very comfortable withdrawing from a few more places.

I feel like I need to let one of the Arizona schools go at this point. Very tough. I'll be taking a very close look at both schools' programs over the weekend. I've already done that, so I'm not sure what else I can learn, but I'm not sure what else to do.

2/28 - scholarship from AU by snail mail - 10K non-renewable.

3/1 - Withdrew from American. Also withdrew from Alabama, since I wouldn't choose it over AZ even if they did eventually throw some money my way.

3/2 - full tuition at Illinois. The alma mater is an extremely good fit for me, so this could very well be the one.

3/10 - got through some more Ws. It's nearly time to call the cycle for me. Went to decision at Michigan on Saturday - likely ding, not that it really matters.

3/11 - yup, dinged by UMich. A little surprised to find out that I don't care. Seconds later, in at UBC (haven't processed my withdrawal yet I guess).

WHY???

With your scores, why are you applying to schools like Temple, ASU and Toronto??? Money makes no sense because you should get some full rides to much better schools. Why arnt you applying to Harvard, Yale, Stanford, NYU, Columbia, Northwestern ect????????

UIUC scholarship

Congrats on the acceptances and the free ride to Illinois. Did your scholarship package come with the initial acceptance packet in the mail?

Take it from a numbers twin currently at a T14... Illinois is a solid option with that scholarship but going to Virginia opens so many more doors it isn't even funny. The current recession's effect on the legal market is going to take years to work off, and you'll be hitting the peak of your job search in only 18-24 months. If you're bright enough to get 99.9% you're bright enough to kill wherever you go, but all doors will be open from UVA.
