Extra Curricular Information

Working full-time (40 hours) since the beginning of school didn't help my GPA a whole lot. The first 2 semesters were the hardest..and once the GPA is down...it is hard to get it back to where you want it. Since then grades have been very good...and the way Lsac reports the re-take grades, doesn't help either.

I have two kids with a 3rd one due in april...which makes me a non-traditional student....at least I hope it does.

I speak Portuguese and spanish...I served a church mission in Brazil which gave me a lot of volunteer work and international experience which is why I want to go into International law.

Member of Pi Sigma Alpha and PLSA.

Additional info & updates

All Scholarship info is for one year since they have GPA requirements.

03/11
Received an E-mail from Wyoming putting me on the wait-list. I expected this due to the fact that between 60-65% are residents and they usually only have about 70 students enroll

03/10
Received an e-mail from Denver with my acceptance letter. I suppose they will mail out more info in the future.

02/20
Received a large envelope from Gonzaga. They were high on my list but I didn't receive as much in scholorships as I hoped. I think it amounts to about 1/4 tuition every year depending on grades.

02/09
Received small envelope from Nebraska saying they will take another look at my app in late April. Not a bad run until now.

02/06
Received acceptance from Creighton in a large envelope. Came with 1/4 tuition scholarship which I figured was about 6500 or so a year.

02/02/
I received acceptance letters from Willamette and Phoneix in the mail today...by the way..they both came in small envelopes. They included Scholorship info as well.

02/02
Received E-mail from the University of Idaho stating that I had been accepted....a packet to follow in the mail shortly.

1/31
I received a big packet from Drake yesterday which included an acceptance letter. It came with info about their programs as well as housing. Today I received a seperate letter stating I would receive a half tuition scholorship....Drake is looking good right now.

1/29
I called Nebraska on the 9th of December and they told me that my app was sent for review that week. It's been about 6 weeks since then and still no word.

1/26
Packet in mail from Florida coastal with a 15k renewable scholarship....might be a little too far for me though.

01/16
Both Byu and UofU status checkers have changed to Under Review...some more waiting i guess.

01/10
Florida Coastal kept sending me e-mails about there school and telling me to apply. Yesterday I recieved one telling me about a scholarship they wanted to offer to me, so I applied. Hopefully it gives me more options

12/29
I decided to get a couple more apps in before the new year when everyone else will be applying. I applied to University of Denver and Creighton.

12/15
After school I found a letter from Tulsa waiting for me. Thanks to those who have already been accepted there, I knew that the acceptance letter arrived in a small envelope, which it did. It was a great Birthday present. At least I know I will be attending law school next year.

12/10-
I decided to apply to Phoenix school of law, does anybody know anything useful about this school? They say they are given the same privelages as an ABA approved school, any info on that?

I received an E-mail from Gonzaga today saying they just received my app and they will review it when they get my stuff from lsac. That only took a month and a half.

12/09-
Called UNL to see if app was complete, they said yes and that my app would be reveiwed next week

12/02-
I applied to Willamette. I have looked at their website many times and they seem to have a good international law school. I don't know much about them either and any help would be useful.

11/30-
I decided to apply to Tulsa since I am slowly learning more about them through the many e-mails they send. Does anyone know anything helpful about them? I did receive a letter from them on saturday stating they have received my app.

11/01-
I finished my apps to BYU and Utah although they are my 2 reach schools right now. I have heard that my apps are complete with both of them, I just don't know when they start reviewing.

I also applied to Wyoming, Gonzaga, and the part-time program at UNLV. I haven't heard back from Gonzaga yet either.

10/31-
Applied to University of Idaho and the University of Nebraska. I have heard back from Uof I, they sent a post card telling me that my application is complete but nothing else. I have not heard anything from Nebraska, does anyone know what their process is or how I check on my status?

i'm sure you'll be fine with UNL... good luck. since i'm from lincoln i've visited the law school several times. i'm not impressed with their programs, in fact nothing stood out except for their J.D./M.A. in Psychology. I sat in a class and enjoyed it, the facilities are nice. We will see! Keep in touch.

I am considering it...they have some good programs...but a scholorship would be nice as well and would help out.
