Extra Curricular Information

Scholarship info is the total over three years, because the numbers are bigger and more impressive that way.

The UCI and St. John's numbers are approximate, since it's just whatever 3 years there would otherwise cost.

I'll put up some more specific info (state, sex, undergrad school, etc.) for posterity's sake once the cycle's over.

Additional info & updates

First year of undergrad was bad. Sub-2.0 GPA kinda bad. Had a 3.4 average during sophomore, junior, & senior years to pull my overall above 3.

After a full 13 weeks, I finally can stop waiting for Fordham! Except that I got waitlisted, so I actually get to keep waiting. Oh well. I guess I'll find out eventually.

GW rejection via snail mail. Only Fordham has yet to decide.

Cardozo waitlist. Came with a sheet saying I can basically get off the waitlist and do their May start thing if I want. Now it's down to just GW and Fordham. Hopefully they'll come through.

GULC says no. Oh well.

Finally got my packet from St. John's today. Somewhat surprisingly, full scholly. It's one of the "stay in the top 1/2 of the class" type though, so I'm at least a little skeptical. I don't wanna go there for the free money, end up losing the money, and then be forced into finishing up with two more years at a lower-ranked and really pricey school. We'll see...

Got my first ding today from BC. I didn't really wanna go to Boston but I would've thought about it had I gotten in. Pretty harmless to my ego since it was a reach anyway. I also noticed that I went to "decision" on GULC's status checker... *gulp*. Cross your fingers for me.

UC Irvine called me (on a Saturday afternoon, for some reason). The letter doesn't give a dollar amount, but says tuition is covered for three years. It's gonna be tough to argue with that.

Temple and Villanova sent packets, no email or calls. I found out through their online status checkers a few days before I actually got their stuff in the mail, though.

Drexel called me (and told me the scholarship amount over the phone), while Rutgers just sent an email (without mentioning any scholarship, although that info came in their packet a few days later).

Good luck with the rest of the decisions. I highly recommend Rutgers. I went with it (with no scholarship), and have no regretted it. Great academic and social environment here.

Congrats! However, I'm confused on why you'd wait for the packet.. isn't it a full ride for the inaugural class? In any case, best wishes!

Not yet...

I still haven't sent my app to Irvine. *Kicks self in head* It took a long time for my 3rd rec to get to LSAC and then I've been agonizing over making the essays the best possible. 500 word PS is extremely difficult...and I cannot make my "Why UCI" words as passionate as I feel. I'm more scared/encouraged now that I know they've sent acceptances!

Hey..

Curious to know where you did your undergrad?

Hey, I know you! Best of luck on Fordham. They WL'd me, but others with our numbers have been getting in PT, so they may like you better.

Congrats on Irvine! I've also been accepted and am trying to decide whether to attend. I currently live in Orange County, so if you have any questions about the area feel free to email me.

I can't believe Temple gave you nothing! With that acceptance from Irvine, though, I would say you're in a strong position to bargain, if you want to go there. I wish I'd applied to UCI now... Sigh. Don't discount Fordham PT based on my cycle, though: I am an outlier due to my undergrad school and major. Many others with lower stats have been getting in, especially from prestigious undergrads. Best luck!

Hello, Fellow Fordham Waitlistee! According to geoanthem, we actually should have been locks, but the class might be full. I very sincerely hope he is wrong. Where are you leaning? Has Irvine tempted you sufficiently? Here's hoping we both get off, up, and out!

Thursday, November 27 2008 at 07:00 PM

I am sorry about Temple. If I end up withdrawing, maybe I can bequeath you my scholarship? It is still my best acceptance... waiting on the others. Congrats on finishing your cycle! When I hear from Hastings, I will be done but for the waitlists. Will you visit Irvine? Best always!

Hey Pany, are you by any chance planning to visit Temple ASD? I will be there on Saturday. If not, I can give you specifics...
