4/11/2005 - Choosing University of Arizona over Vanderbilt.

BYU Interview
Friday, March 11 2005 at 07:00 PM

Dean Hernandez from BYU called me on my cell and asked if I would come meet with him because they had some questions about my application. I was suprised since I didn't think they did interviews. When I got there, it didn't really feel like an interview; mostly we just chatted. He asked if I would feel comfortable there, since I'm not LDS. I thought that was really nice. I told him I was fine with it as long as others were fine that I wasn't LDS. He was very friendly and encouraging. I left with a very strong respect for him and the school. Plus their facilities are very nice. Good luck with your remaining apps and congrats on your acceptances.

Thank you for your insight on the interview. I asked because Hernandez also interviewed me. It was 45 humiliating minutes of grilling me to see if I was the right race/ethnicity to attend the university. It was pretty upsetting, actually.

I personally know dean hernandez and that sounds hard to believe. a grilling? really. I don't think I look hispanic at all, yet somehow I managed to get in.

Arizona

Yes, sorry to dissappoint, rando, it was really strange. That's ok, however, because I am really excited about going to Arizona. (I'm from the Tucson area anyway.)
