Additional info & updates

Yep, I'm pretty much screwed with those LSAT scores but this is what I want to do and I'm going to do it.

LSN profile for 2007 - 2008 cycle: fromthenooga

1/09/09 - My online status for John Marshall now reads "decision made, letter mailed". Hopefully I get it tomorrow before Sunday.

For those of you who are reading my profile to gauge your chances at the schools I have applied to, please keep in mind that I was accepted to Miss College and Appalachian last year so I'm sure that had something to do with my acceptances for this cycle.

1/14/09 - Deferred at John Marshall. I guess they are trying to get their numbers up so they can apply for full ABA approval. I checked out their facebook group and Shannon Keef, the admissions director, told another user that they would not start looking at deferred applicants until June or July. Bummer.

1/23/09 - Dinged at Memphis. So much for a chance at cheap tuition.

2/25/09 - I called Southern to see if they were still going to start making decisions after the February 28th deadline. They told me that the admissions committee would start looking at applications but the deadline has been extended to the end of March.

2/28/09 - C'mon Loyola! Stop making me wait!

3/24/09 - Waitlisted at Loyola via status checker! I thought I would get rejected like last year so this is a good surprise.

4/1/09 - Sent in my seat deposit to Miss College and withdrew from Appalachian. Hopefully more people withdraw so I can get off the the Loyola waitlist.

4/24/09 - Why is Southern taking so long? Are you serious? I sent in an app to Nashville School of Law in case I decide to stay here in Tennessee. I haven't heard anything from John Marshall as I am STILL on hold. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! If you are not going to go to Loyola and you have already put in your first deposit then withdraw!

5/8/09 - In at NSL.

5/13/09 - I'm in at Loyola via status checker! Prayer definetely works. The past two years have been a roller coaster but I am finally going back to the Big Easy!

5/16/09 - Withdrew from Miss College. Hopefully I freed up a space for a waitlisted applicant. I'm glad Loyola admitted me since $27,000 in student loans just to cover tuition with the risk of being stuck in Mississippi did not sound too appealing.

5/19/09 - Withdrew from John Marshall and Southern. I don't understand why I never heard from Southern. The people in the admissions office were very helpful but they only sent me one email in November about receiving my application and that was the last I heard from them. John Marshall was very good about sending me information about employment prospects, news and other things.

This has been a very nerve-wracking cyclce for me. All I have to give for advice is to study HARD for the LSAT and do it right the first time. DO NOT settle for less. If you have ANY doubt in your mind that you can get into a better school and you have to wait a year to retake the LSAT and apply again...DO IT. It's an investment. Their is a lot of mistakes I made that I would not have done if I had just done some research and better understood the impact of my LSAT score.

7/2/09 - I moved home today and found a rejection letter from Southern (after I sent them an email stating that I was withdrawing my application). Are you kidding me? This goes to show that even if your numbers are over the median, if you don't have what the law school your applying to is looking for, your not getting in.

It's all good though, because I'm going to where I want to go. Good luck to anybody else who is on the Loyola waitlist for the evening program!

I just checked the status checker and found out I got a waitlist as well. Seemed like the 19th at Loyola NO was "let's give out waitlists today" Hopefully we'll both get off the waitlist *crosses fingers* good luck with the rest of your cycle!

Congrats/Advice

Hello. Congrats on your acceptances! I was just checking on the "Recently updated" list and your name was on there. I was wondering if i could ask for advice. I am placed on the wait list at a school i want to go to, and i noticed you got accepted into a school that you were wait listed at. did you do anything, as in send a letter of continued interest, or anything at all to help you chances? do you have any advice or anything which you might be able to help me with? as you can see our scores are similar, and it would be highly appreciated if you could give me some ideas. thank you. [please feel free to email me, since it is hard for me to sign on to this site--a "problem with sessions" or something, inhibits me to sign in]
