Is there any chance in hell I am getting in to law school?

What's the word on Southern New England School of Law?

Additional info & updates

(2/28/06) UMaine - This was my top choice and a major downer. I have always dreamed of living and going to school in Portland. I am staying optimistic - all I want is to go to school! Please keep your fingers crossed for me! Rejection came in a plaine white envelope.

(3/11/06) Northeastern - I knew this was a hug long shot but I had the money in the bank so I gave it a shot. No big suprise when I got the rejection in a plaine white envelope.

(3/16/06) Vermont Law School - This was another school where I really thought I had a shot. I visited and loved everything about their program. Thought I had a shot because they take degree GPA in to account. Was rejected today via plaine white envelope. All I want it to attend law school this year!!!

(3/20/06)
Franklin Pierce - Another one I thought I had a shot at. Not a huge loss as I HATED Concord, NH! Still would have been nice to have gotten an acceptance. Rejection came in a regular white envelope.

Thomas Cooley - ACCEPTED, though I don't think I can attend. Due to my index score I would I have to get 1 point higher on my LSAT if I wanted to attend for Fall. If I want to start in May I am admitted. Acceptance came in a large manilla envelope. Financially I wouldn't be ready to attend in MAY :(

(4/24/06) - Roger Williams: Rejected despite a letter to the dean and a nifty adendum. This is quite depressing -- this damn LSAT really pulled out the rug for this cycle. I was hoping for the waitlist, at least! I really loved Bristol, RI and would have loved going to school there. I have been considering applying to Southern New England School of Law which is about 15 minutes away from Roger Williams. Has anyone heard of it? Rejection came in plaine white envelope.

(5/1/06) - Southern New England School of Law: ACCEPTED. I know it doesn't count here, but I did get in and am giving some thought to going. There are on the cusp of accredidation and are taking major steps to gain recognition by the ABA. Plus, there is word that it might become the UMass School of Law. Seems like a good option - qualifies you to take the bar in MA and CT. I am looking to to public advocacy work (maybe become a judge) in MA, so it may work out for me.

(5/4/06) New England School of Law - rejected after my application sat there for 3 full months. What were they doing? This seems to be the end of the road for me -- no law school this year :( I am quite depressed. It all comes down to CUNY now which is probably a no.

I don't think so either...

Yeah, things don't seem to be working out this go around but I am going to keep the faith. Hopefully something will pan out... As a New Yorker I am not that in to the idea of Lansing Michigan, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that CUNY comes through. I know chances are slim but I've got to keep thinking positive. Your encouragement is warmly welcomed.

GOOD LUCK!

I think you should call CUNY and check on the status of your application

NYU/Columbia?

A little surprising... I hope everything works out well for the schools you may actually get into. Best of luck!

Well...I'm clearly just jealous of your Columbia acceptance. I'm interested in hearing what soft factors you have to overcome an LSAT/GPA significantly below their 25th percentile...

What?

Columbia? I wish! I am just keeping my fingers crossed for CUNY - I want to be a public advocate! Is there a shot in hell? I live in NYC, was born in NYC, and my city conselor wrote one a recomendation on behalf...what do you think? I've also sent a supplamental letter explaining my pasion for non-profit work, a letter of interest to the dean, and an adendum. Let me know!

Where is CUNY Law?

What is taking them so long? I am sitting on pins and needles, hoping upon hope, for an acceptance -- even it it's conditional! Anyone know how you qualify for the Summer Law Institute?

hey :)

just some advice. It isnt worth messing with the non accredited school. you will be throwing your money away. best bet is to be on the phone with cooleys financial aid department non stop till they push you off to the fall program. try your best and i think it will come through. i would almost say you are better off waiting a year if that doesnt happen, buying a study guide and reapplying. good luck either way :)

just stating it as a general rule. you may be able to practice in the area which is great, but you never know when life will send you in a different direction, and there is nothing you can do outside those states i guess with an unaccredited. Good luck with whatever you decide. where in ny did you go?
