I did so well on the SAT because it is 50% math and 50% other crap. Got a 710/800 math and a 610/800 verbal score = 1320/1600. Whereas the LSAT is 100% other crap...plus I didn't prepare at all for it...both times. I like Ohio Northern, but I don't like the fact that its in a college town. Too far from networking and too much incentive to party. I'm still considering ON because it is a great school, as you put it.
Although my LSAT is only slightly higher than yours, I'm right there with you regarding Math. I had a 730 math score, but only a 510 verbal score. And although I now have a Master's Degree, last cycle didn't do me any good. If you really are serious about law school, you really might want to do what others have suggested and simply re-apply early next cycle. That's what I did. I had no luck last cycle, applied in October for this cycle and finally got into a reasonable school that I'm happy with. But I agree with you that the LSAT is nothing but crap and it is NOT going to reflect how you'll really do in law school at all. You'll do very well, no matter what score you got on that dumb test.
congrats on wsu! they waitlisted me :/
I sent you an e-mail with regards to your response on my post.
Congrats on FAMU, maybe I'll see you there!
Just wanted to say good luck to a fellow countryman! Sorry about your rejection from JMLS. I'm hoping to go there.
I noticed you said you were at LUNO. Does this mean you are doing some summer program at Loyola or just visiting? We have similar numbers. I wish you the best!
Have you heard anything from CSU's waitlist? Know anyone that has?
I received the same Cleveland-Marshall letter. I am staying on the waitlist. They are my top choice right now.
You're funny! I wish you could have my spot at Cal Western!
I'm going to go to Western State. Cathy called me yesterday and she was super nice so i should get the materials sometime this week...and GOOD LUCK to you! hope you get in off of the waitlists :-)
I have been keeping up with your profile. I got into Loyola today only because of God's grace and I am sure you will be able too if you want to go there. Can you give me the pros and cons of the school whenever you get a chance? I have been trying to do as much research as possible. My main concern is job placement outside of New Orleans. Does having Tulane right next door a pro or con? I am pretty happy of getting in and there is a high possibility I will go, but I want to make the best decision. Hope your last few weeks go well for you.
Let me just tell you about my experience. Two of the Three professors I had were not what I expected. The one I have now (Lunney) leaves as soon as class is over, and likes to hear herself talk. When she is saying something during class and someone tries to ask her something, she snugly says "Im not finished" and then 5 minutes after the topic discussion was over she remembers that the person had a question. I don't think she is that great of a professor. The professor I had for Contracts (Ciolino) was a polar oposite. You WANTED to go to his class. He had great illustrative discussions that really clarified contract law. But when it came to the test, he was hush-hush; he would not answer any emails and wouldn't do a review when asked for one. The first professor (LeCesne) would stay after class as long as it took to help a student understand tort law. He answered emails, held a review on two occasions. He was not as exiting as Ciolino, but he was a very effective teacher. As for the school itself. They are adding on to the law school building, but I haven't found out what the extra space would be used for. The law library is four stories; the first has a nice quiet study area that I frequent, and a large computer lab adjacent. The second and third floors are also great places to study and the librarians are very helpful in finding the professor's old exams and other things. We have no access to the fourth floor, so that's just a big mystery. Tulane: I haven't seen Tulane as a detriment. I go study in Tulane's library once in a while and eat an occasional lunch on their campus. Their food tent thing is probably the only place in walking distance where you can eat a meal for under $5. And if you are a fast food junkie, like me, you have to bring a car, because all the nearby fast food places (if any existed) are boarded up from Katrina. Katrina: I can't tell any damage to the school. Church: I don't know what religion you are, but there is a Baptist church next door and a beautiful Catholic church sandwiched between Tulane and Loyola's main campus. Summary: I like LUNO Law; enough so, that I changed it to my #1 choice. It is a Tier 3, so its better than many of the schools I applied to. But I see you don't have many Tier 4s so that doesn't mean anything to you. If there is something I missed, don't hesitate to contact me.
Hey thanks a lot for all of the info. I greatly appreciate. I have a fellow classmate from undergrad who is attending too. I am still uncertain on whether or not I will attend. I have another week to decide. Really the only thing holding me back is the ranking. I am extremely fortunate just to be admitted; however, I am wondering if one of the higher ranked schools will admit me or by attending Vanderbilt for graduate school will significantly boost my chances of being admitted into a top 100 law school. From what I have heard though and researched Loyola is a great school and they have the new additions coming up. Hopefully this next week something will trigger and I will know for sure on what to do! Keep in touch and thanks again.
Hey thanks for your comment. I applied to John Marshall as I work downtown Chicago and would be only going to school part time. I know John Marshall is not as fancy as other schools but it would be great for me to go there.
Hey congratulations! I looked at the ranking web site you posted. I am still confused. Vanderbilt grad school seems to good too pass up, but I am beginning to think maybe Loyola would be too.
Go to Loyola! Take the offer, it is a great school!
It looks like everything is going well for you. Congrats! I have a quick quetion for you. Did you have to explain your low lsat score when applying to Nola? Thanks
Just wanna wish you luck...btw i know cal western, whittier and golden gate have midyear programs as well...
