Additional info & updates

11-07-05 Deferred at Akron.

Akron stated in a letter that they would take another look at my application around February, and that they remain very interested in me as an applicant. I tend to read that with a grain of pessimism, expecting a rejection to come in the near future.

02-04-06 Accepted at Cooley with 25% Scholarship.

More relieved than excited at this point. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to attend law school this year. No matter what, I have at least a safety school lined up to have an opportunity at.

02-09-06 Accepted at Capital University.

I received an email inviting me to an Open House for admitted students, but I had not received a letter confirming my admission. I called the school and they confirmd the acceptance; saying that the email was supposed to follow the receipt of the letter. Either way, good news since I started off slow with a slew of rejected applications.

03-13-06 Withdrew from Thomas M. Cooley.

03-27-06 Waitlisted at American University.

Letter came in standard white envelope with a form to fill out and return stating what program you were still interested in, i.e. Day/Night, Full or Part-Time.

04-21-06 "Deferred" at Case Western Reserve Univ.

Letter came in standard white envelope stating that my application is on "hold." I am taking this as a deferred notification. They remain interested, and will welcome additional information to suppliment my application. A decision will be forthcoming in a few weeks.

05-10-06 Waitlisted at Cleveland-Marshall.

Received a letter today stating that I had been Waitlisted. Final decision will be by June 9th.

05-13-06 "Summer Accepted" at Case Western Reserve University.

Received a letter from Case today stating that I had been "Summer Accepted" after being deferred. They stated that their class was full at this time. If enough people do not decide to attend Case, they will start taking off this unranked list. This is probably the least concrete news I could receive at this point. I am very stressed at this time because I can't make any definite plans; potentially through the summer. Is anyone in this same situation???

06-07-06 Rejected at Ohio Northern.

Wasn't really ever planning on living in Ada, Ohio for Law School, so I really wasn't concerned about the rejection. Makes you really see why applying early is essential however.

06-10-06 Visited Capital University Law School for New Student Day.

06-12-06 Withdrew from American University's Waitlist.

06-12-06 Received letter from Cleveland-Marshall asking if I was interested in remaining on their waitlist. Replied that I was.

06-29-06 Received a call from the Akron Office of Admissions today offering admission to the Part-Time Evening Program. Strongly looking at Akron since it is closer to home and a better, less costly school than Capital.

07-05-06 Withdrew from Capital University in favor of Akron.

07-15-06 Rejected at Cleveland-Marshall. That really hurt.

07-20-07 Received acceptances from Case Western Reserve University and Maryland as a Transfer Student. Will attend Case in the Fall of 2007.

Are you still on AD? Ft. Belvoir? Having military service will help but on the overall scheme of things it all comes down to numbers (mainly LSAT). I took a similar route and applied to PT programs for the DC schools --- little easier to get into.

Not sure...

I am not sure how much of a role the military plays in the acceptance process. I like to think that if a shool is looking to diversify their student body they would look to the non-trad with a military background. I emailed you with more info. v/r CPT H.

Sorry about OSU champ. I'm 99% sure that I'll join you there. Best of luck on the others!

and by joining you there, I mean join you in having to go somewhere else.

How did they notify you? If snail mail, were letters sent to both temporary and permanent addresses? Thanks,

I just received a letter from the University of Pittsburgh that cited my military experience as a factor in my acceptance. I know that this is a long shot, but it might be worth your while! v/r

CSU

I received a letter that I was accepted at CSU. I wasn't even notified that my app went complete. I had withdrawn on the 29th, and received the letter on the 30th, so it must have been in the mail. CSU places fairly well in Cleveland, but I don't think it places well outside of Cleveland. It's a pretty solid school, and I know they are trying to raise their numbers. Best of luck to you!!!

Capital

how did they let you know you were complete?

TMC...

...I saw that you threw an ap at TMC. If you are not adverse to moving, you may also want to look at: Ave Maria (it is a new school on the up and up), Detroit Mercy, or Michigan State. All these schools are in the same general area (lower MI).

Congrats on Capital

Not all schools are focused on numbers!

Case

Yeah, mine said that I had been placed on "hold." Apparently "on hold" and "deferred" mean the same thing. Good luck at Case and with Cleveland State. Let me know if you get into either school since I applied there too.

summer acceptance
Monday, March 27 2006 at 07:00 PM

That is what mine sounds like too I think... my mom read it to me over the phone so I have yet to confirm but I will check. It sounds like a waitlist called Summer Acceptance, doesn't it? I am NOT planning on case now.

Case
Thursday, February 09 2006 at 07:00 PM

I recieved the exact same letter. Case is not worth waiting for at this point. The odds of either of us actually attending is slim to none. Case has a problem with rejecting people. I mean look at their stats. Anything than less than a 157 LSAT doesn't really have a fighting chance. This letter was just smoke being blown up our a$$.

Case
Wednesday, November 30 2005 at 07:00 PM

yeah, my mom called my and said something about a summer waitlist... She didn't read the letter to me but said something about their class being already filled and they will admit more if places open up. She said the letter also mentioned something about how they are always accepting transfers should I decide to go to another school. I'll have her read it to me tomorrow so I can get a better idea of what its intent is. However, I'm basically taking this as a waitlist and not any special kind of waitlist, just a plain-jane waitlist. If I find that the letter is saying something different than that, I'll let you know. Even so, Case is looking very doubtful even if I was accepted due to the steep cost of the education.

CSU
Friday, March 24 2006 at 07:00 PM

I haven't heard anything. But it has only been a month, so I'm giving it some time. I'm surprised I even made the waitlist, so I don't know how much hope I actually have. Good luck!

Me again
Friday, March 24 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey, just wanted to let you know I got a letter from CSU wanting to confirm my continued interest in their school so that they could keep me on their wait list.

Congratulations...

SEC

Well, I was only there in a temporary position (meaning that they needed someone to fill the spot, but couldn't actually hire me). I only got a view from the support staff side of things, so I'm not sure that I could be all that helpful in talking about what the commission was actually like.
