Visits: Case, Pitt (liked Pitt better, but Case is better for what I want to do), American (dinner was good), Georgetown (loved it), Northwestern (loved Chicago)

Northwestern interview on 12/9 went well.

12/15 - Email from Georgetown clarifying something on my app - 2nd email saying she was forwarding everything to the committee!
12/15 - Complete at Fordham via status checker
12/22 - Complete at American per email.
1/2 - Complete at Columbia per email
1/11 - In at Georgetown! Party!
1/17 - I've probably been complete at Pitt for a while, but I just emailed to confirm that fact. Response said decisions will go out at the end of the week.
1/18 - Response from Case to email asking about completion status - probably have been complete a while.
1/20 - Deferral from Fordham - will probably not return the letter of interest - who needs them and their yield-protecting selves?
1/24 - Nice and informative acceptance letter from Pitt. My husband really wants to stay here, so we'll see how much money they offer.
1/27 - Application "under review" per email from Boalt.
1/28 - Acceptance packet, priority mail, from American. They have a joint program with the university in my French hometown that is very interesting...
1/29 - Application complete via late Sunday evening email from NYU. There's no way I haven't been complete there for at least a month.
2/4 - Scholarship letter from Pitt. 10K/year, renewable. Been a slow week!
2/6 - Complete at Northwestern via status check.
2/9 - Acceptance letter from Case Western.
2/11 - Deferral from Columbia. Will sent updated resume and letter of interest. Sad :(
2/14 - Email to check online status, acceptance from Northwestern!!
3/12 - Email from Case Western - full Dean's scholarship - 33,300 a year. Holy CARP. I was getting ready to withdraw and now I don't know what to do.
3/16 - FINALLY complete at Cornell after they lost my first dean's cert. Wonder if I'll get a decision in time?
3/17 - Pitt decided to match the offer from Case, and is now awarding me full in-state tuition. Hot DAMN.
3/22 - So I never returned that Fordham letter of continuing interest, and I'd considered myself withdrawn, but they decided to send me a rejection letter today just for the heck if it. Updating to reflect that so the next person to get a yield protection ding from them doesn't feel alone.
4/3 - Withdrawn from American after visit.
4/9 - Came back from a lovely vacation to find a rejection letter from Berkeley and a deferral from Cornell. BAH!
4/17 - Withdrew from Pitt. Good luck to those on the waitlist!
4/19 - 50K over three years from Northwestern. Back to square one with the decision making process.
4/20 - Waitlisted at NYU.
4/26 - Sending deposit to Northwestern. Will attend unless I get off the Columbia or NYU waitlists before signing a lease in Chicago. OMG, I am going to freeze to death.
5/1 - "Reserve" at Columbia, which is what I was expecting, and what the lady on the phone sort of implied when I called last week. Withdrew from Case (hope they give all that money to someone who needs it) and Georgetown, in an effort to mentally commit myself to NU.
7/1 - Because I never responded to their second waitlist letter ( a deferral and then TWO waitlistings, from one school!), Columbia thinks I'm withdrawn. Fine by me, we'de signed a lease in Chicago.
7/7 - Cornell deferred me 3 months ago and just now got around to waitlisting me. Withdrawing.

Thanks everyone! It's nice to finally get some comments. The status check went to decision on Monday - letter came in today's (Wednesday's) mail in the standard off-white envelope.

It looks like I can't log in quite yet. Maybe once they're sure everyone has gotten their letters?

Berkeley

Congrats on Georgetown, you give me some hope. I applied earlier to Berkeley, so I hope I can return the favor.

Harvard

Is there a reason you haven't applied to Harvard? They may be willing to overlook your GPA since you have a masters and several years of work experience. The 179 probably wouldn't hurt either. Congrats on Georgetown.

Ahh, Harvard

I didn't think I'd have a realistic chance, and finances are a little too tight to make a donation. I am second guessing myself now, but I'm not sure I have time to get an app in?

Fordham

Oh, you have no reason to worry about Fordham! I\\\'d be shocked if they turned you down!! Maybe they\\\'ll take the both of us: my GPA can offset yours and your LSAT can offset mine?? :D Nice to know that someone else got that e-mail!

Deferral??
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

Damn, deferred at Fordham?? That's nuts! I'm sensing a ding in my immediate future. :( Congrats on G-town!! :)

But this screen name is for Shirin Ebadi (if you're asking, I'm sure you know who she is). I want to work in/on international women's rights, and she's always been an inspiration for me (that sounds trite. But it's true).

Hey- just wondering if you are still seriously considering American now that you've been admitted to Georgetown (Congrats on that btw!). If you aren't still looking at American can you please consider withdrawing. Thanks alot.
