Additional info & updates

-My low LSDAS GPA is due to two particular semesters my freshman year, 8 years ago, and since then I have been a very different student. I am really hoping that my personal statement will sort of soften this blow by explaining some of the personal issues I faced at this time.

-My Cooley app. is for the new Tampa Bay campus, not for Michigan. Send me to the beach, please!

-10/31 - "Under Review" at Florida Coastal

-11/3 - Cooley status checker says "Decision Letter Sent." Time to stalk the mailman. First decision letter, exciting!

-11/5 - LSAC Forum in Atlanta! Reps from St. Thomas and Barry were especially friendly and impressed me.

-11/7 - Accepted to Florida Coastal via status checker! It said further information including any scholarship info would follow soon.

11/7 - Accepted to Atlanta's John Marshall for evening part-time. I don't remember applying part-time, but, okay. It's definitely low on my list anyways, it's my "if-all-my-moving-plans-implode" school.

-11/7 - Received acceptance packet today from Cooley. 50% tuition scholarship offer.

-11/10 - Accepted via online status checker to Barry! I'm really psyched about this one, I really like the idea of being in Orlando. I think I prefer FAMU because it's a lot cheaper in-state, but, we'll see if Barry offers any money when I get the packet that's supposed to be coming in the mail. Field trip to Disney World? ...I THINK YES!

-11/11/11 - Scholarship offer via e-mail today from Florida Coastal - $27,000 a year in scholarship money, renewable for years 2 and 3 with a 2.9 GPA.

-11/12 - Finally received a confirmation of my application from Ave Maria. The online status checker is showing "decision pending" though, so maybe they are just slow about e-mailing.

-11/12 - Received packet in the mail from John Marshall. They are offering me zero scholarship money...which is actually great for me, because I needed a good reason not to go the school right down the road and this is definitely it.

-11/16 - Ave Maria went "under review" today. Barry status checker says they sent my information packet on the 10th but it still hasn't arrived. Hey USPS, why does it take you a week to get me a letter from somewhere I can drive to in 6 hours...?

11/17 - Under Review at New England. You all are encouraging and inspiring, so thank you for that. I think I am going to think about applying to some more schools that I felt like were a little out of my reach. I think I'll do some looking around LSAC today and see where I think I might be interested in or have a chance in hell at getting into.

11/21 - Received acceptance from New England Law via snail mail. I really appreciated a little handwritten note referencing my personal statement added onto the form letter. It was sweet. Packet said scholarship information is sent separately.

11/28 - E-mailed Barry asking for duplicate admissions packet. 18 days is too long, it had to have gotten lost in the mail somewhere. I got a reply about two minutes later, asking for my address to confirm and saying that she would scan the letters in for me tomorrow and then send a duplicate packet. They are super nice over there at Barry.

11/29 - I woke up to the Barry scans in my e-mail box. $16,000 (about half the cost) scholarship offer, contingent on a 2.8.

11/30 - Accepted via online status checker at Ave Maria!

-12/2 - My good luck so far has inspired me to reach higher... just submitted my app to Florida International. Wish me luck!

-12/2 - E-mail in my box this morning from Ave Maria. $25,000 scholarship, renewable with a 3.0 for the second and third year.

-12/2 - FIU is fast. I submitted my app last night about midnight (completed) and just now got an e-mail with my status checker link, and I'm already under review. I hope that isn't a really bad sign!

-12/6 - Something intriguing happened on my FIU status checker today, the status didn't change from 'under review,' but the date changed from 12/2 to 12/6. Wonder what that means?

-12/9 - FAMU still says "Complete" as status, but the dates have changed again and now the seat deposit numbers are up. Hmmmm. Good news?

-12/13 -Status checker at St. Thomas changed to 'under review.'

-12/13 -Some questions for you smart people out there: I have heard of people using one school's scholarship offer to get another school to raise theirs. Does anyone have experience with this?

-12/14 - Submitted app to Willamette. Oregon is home for me, so, figured I'd give it a try.

-12/16 - I applied today to Lewis and Clark and to Seattle U. Honestly, L&C is probably my first choice school, given that I spent 21 years in Portland, OR, but, I am a little scared that my GPA will keep me out. I wrote an addendum, and......we'll see.

-12/17 - Applied to Gonzaga. I guess I'm getting the "go home" bug in a bad way.

-12/18 - Shocked to wake up on a Sunday morning to an e-mail from Seattle U - but file is complete and already reflecting 'in review.'

-12/22 - Received both a letter and e-mail accepting me to FAMU today. Small envelope. Zero scholarship. Forget that.

-12/24 - Got a letter from Atlanta's John Marshall, offering me a $10,000/year scholarship.

-1/9/12 - Gonzaga went to "under review" today.

-1/12 - I suspect I just got my first rejection. Florida International status checker reads "Decision reached, letter mailed," and there are no deposit #s. I suppose I'll soon know, but I'm prepared for that first no.

-1/18- Still haven't received that letter from FIU. I did get accepted today to St. Thomas via status checker, though!

-1/19 - Got the letter and it's better than I expected - Waitlisted at FIU!

-1/28 - Status checker at Gonzaga says "decision reached." I assume a rejection because there are no status checker deposit numbers. I also got a letter in the mail from New England offering me a $15,000/year scholarship, renewable with a 2.5 GPA.

-1/30 - Received a surprise admission packet from Gonzaga today! Wow! They even offered a $6,500/year scholarship renewable with a 2.75. What a nice surprise!

-2/1 - Status checker at Willamette shows "decision made" and that something is in the mail to me - and status checker numbers popped up! Wow. I did not really expect that.

-2/2 - I got an e-mail just now from Seattle University congratulating me on my acceptance. YAY!

-2/3 - E-mail rejection from Lewis and Clark. My first rejection... it stings a little less than I thought it might, and I really can't complain. I've been very lucky so far this cycle.

-2/6 - Received a small envelope from Willamette today. I'm absolutely blown away to have been offered a $16,000/year scholarship. Blown. Away.

-2/8 - I applied to the University of Arkansas (Little Rock), Stetson, UGA and GSU. A friend advised me I may be addicted to applications. The thing is, I am just feeling so lost in this process. I think I already applied to too many places and now with all the options I can't make a decision, plus I'm getting family pressure and I just want to scream. I should have applied to just one school. So intead, I apply to more...lol. It makes sense if you don't think about it!

-2/11 - I'm a little confused. I just got another letter in the mail from Gonzaga. The admissions packet had a scholarship letter in it, but what came yesterday was just in a small envelope. It was a scholarship letter, saying they were offering me a $500 scholarship. The admissions letter said I was being offered a $6500 scholarship. So... I'm confused. (UPDATE on this: This is on top of my first offer, making for a $7000 total at Gonzaga)

-2/22 - Rejected from UGA via status checker. Not surprised or disappointed.

-2/23 - Accepted via status checker today to Mercer University. I would be surprised if I got money, but, the law school is literally two minutes from my house, so if they do offer money it will be a really serious consideration.

-2/27 - E-mail rejection from GA State.

-3/16 - Spent a few days on vacation and came home to e-mail waitlist notifications from UALR and Stetson.
As it stands today, I want to go to Mercer. It's close to home and they moved up in the rankings this year. I just have to figure out how to pay for it, because I absolutely can't afford th 38k/year. I e-mailed them with Gonzaga and Willamette's scholarship offers in hopes of getting something. We'll see. I hope I can make this happen.

-3/24 - I went to accepted students' day at Mercer. When I e-mailed about scholarship funds, I didn't receive a response. I asked yesterday and discovered that they have no more funds to distribute until after their deposit deadline, and then they will offer out more. I am really hopeful that they will consider me for some money. As for accepted students' day, I have to say I enjoyed it. The people were friendly. Everyone seemed to have a sense of humor, which I really appreciated. The inside of the building isn't as beautiful as the outside, but, it isn't bad. The courtroom is very nice. Overall, I was left with a positive impression and I'll probably end up at Mercer, crossing my fingers like crazy for some money after the deadline.

-3/29/12 - I paid my seat deposit at Mercer. I really feel that despite the money, I am happy with my decision. Hello, Mercer class of 2015!

-4/27/12 - Admitted via e-mail at Charleston. That's ridiculous, that application was submitted 10/25/11, and they only offered two weeks time to pay a deposit, after taking six months to process. HA. No thanks.

I didn't get to make it for Admitted Students Day, but I visited over my spring break. Luckily my dad went to Mercer so I got the full tour while I was there. Still waiting to hear from Ga State, but if I don't get in there, I will be looking for a place in Macon for the next 3 years.
