Additional info & updates

UMiami - small envelope

Pepperdine - small envelope, but I receive an email 3 days before inviting me to an admitted students day...email kind of caught me off guard...but at least I was admitted and it wasn't a mistake :)

FSU: letter, scholarship applications included...received scholarship a few weeks later...in the realm of things $2000 doesn't help a lot...but at least it's something

4/3/06 - Withdrew from FSU and put down deposits at both Miami and Pepperdine, b/c they are coming due...I just want to know my status at USD and Loyola...I know I have no chance at USC!!! I can't believe I only have a month until I graduate and I have no idea where I'm going!

No Miami $$
Tuesday, October 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

I didn't get any $$ from them. I called and they said their scholarship funds are depleted at this point. I was expecting to get SOMETHING-- it's very unlikely that I'll go there now. The only way I would pay $32k to attend a #77 ranked school in an expensive city is if I got shut out from the other 10 (higher-ranked) schools to which I applied.

Got regular small white envelope from UT. Thought it was a rejection or correspondence at first...

Miami and Pepperdine

I've visited both campuses (though before I was even considering law school), and I must say -- Pepperdine wins hands-down. Though I absolutely love Miami and am considering practicing there when I graduate, Pepperdine is the most gorgeous college I have ever seen. You are literally on the Pacific Ocean in Malibu. That said, given the 2 options you are looking at, I would probably choose Miami, just because of the better job prospects.

I work at an elementary school in the UT area and it is huge and busy. Austin is a small town with a lot of traffic. I mean aaaaa..lot of traffic.

Campus Opinions
Tuesday, October 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

Personally, I thought Pepperdine was a little secluded even though it was a good-looking campus. Malibu was a little colder and emptier in June than I thought it'd be. The rec center (hidden away in a basement) was the size of a 3-car garage--that was a huge turnoff. The law building itself was very old-looking and outdated. Loyola is right in the ghetto which I thought was pretty scary (it was fenced off and there was grafitti everywhere). I didn't even go in... I went to San Diego after hours but it had an AMAZING campus! It's also in a good location as SD is a beautiful city and the campus overlooks it. Miami was my favorite campus. It's Miami obviously and it's paradise (moreso than Malibu)--I really liked how it still maintained a "college" scene.

FSU

How strongly are you considering FSU? I just got admitted by phone but haven't received scholarship info. You had to separately apply for them?
