Congratulations, and two quick questions
Friday, December 31 2004 at 07:00 PM
Hey, congratulations on the acceptance! I have two questions for you though. It would be awesome if you could answer them. I got a W on my transcript (non-punitive, non GPA counting,) Did you have any Ws on your transcript, or do you know anybody that has one or more and will it affect my acceptance into Harvard, Yale, etc? (Considering I get a high GPA and a high LSAT? (E-mail me or leave a message with the answer in my profile)

i am kinda shocked that penn waitlisted someone who got a hamilton. i just got WLed this morning, this makes me feel not as bad
I honestly don't recommend what I did. I just sat at home for the 3 weeks after school ended and did practice tests for about 4 hours a day. I had planned on taking all of the practice tests like Dimsum but I kind of stopped with the last 10 or so unfinished, I've still never opened them, what a waste of 80 bucks. I think many people are better served by taking a prep course, I'm just not used to the idea and I didn't think being in a class with 20 other people was going to help me much. Once you learn the basic material the only thing you need to do is practice until you can answer every argument in about 30-45 seconds with a really high degree of confidence, and basically accumulate extra time to use on the last couple pain in the ass arguments. If you don't understand a question post it on LSD and people will explain it. For RC I didn't bother reading the questions first, they all ask really general stuff like "what is the point of this passage?" For games the key is to get the diagram right on paper and make sure that you can use it for all 6 or 7 questions per game, don't wreck it when answering the first question. I have lots of little things that I did but I don't know how useful other people will find them. I think you're doing the right thing by starting this early. Practice all the time and you should be fine. And make sure your soft factors are good too, it's impossible to make up for that stuff so close to the application deadlines. Maybe read Susan Estrich's book, I thought it was helpful, but it would've been twice as helpful a year ago.
