Just like everyone else, I have a ton of ECs. Some of it makes me stand out, other things are fairly common. One stand out is that I have done a lot of community service activities. I started a center in downtown LA for recent immigrants to the US.

I have 2 awesome letters of recommendation. One from the President of my undergraduate university (who is very well known in higher education), whom I had as a professor and encouraged me to start the center mentioned above. Other from a Grad professor familiar with both my academic and professional accomplishments.

Teach For America-- have taught 6th grade in South Central LA for 3 years and loved it.

I want to stay in the field of education, after getting my JD.

Additional info & updates

Took June 2002 LSAT-- scored a 161 on first and only try.

I know that my list contains a LOT of reaches, obviously I'm really hoping for something to come through.

I applied in the fall 2003 cycle and was accepted at Hastings, George Washington, and American (from this list). I would consider myself happy and lucky to get those same acceptances this go round.

Fee waivers for: University of Chicago, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Emory, Arizona State, Loyola Chicago (these were given as a result of being an alum of Teach For America)
By the way, I opted for Teach For America instead of attending back in fall 2003.

on your acceptance. That is awesome, I am thinking of TFA as well. So do you really like it? do you regret deferring law school?

congrats

Congrats on your acceptance to CUA. In regards to your question about whether the school really is my first choice...it is in a lot of ways. I think that I would be happiest there and that for the 3 years of law school that the quality of life would be best at Catholic because the atmosphere seems less stressful and competitive than the other DC schools. But it's a difficult decision. Good luck with the rest of your decisions! - Allegra

Good luck as the law school admissions process winds down. I'm going to join TFA this fall in LA, so I hope I have as good of an experience you've had.
