Additional info & updates

Received - Date LSAC report was requested
Decision - Date on letter/e-mail

**Hid withdrawn applications that were pending.**

05/01/07 - As deadlines have come and gone, I assume my silence has me automatically withdrawn from all schools except Chicago (I sent my intent to enroll), Columbia, and Harvard,

04/03/07 - Waitlisted at HLS by letter.

04/25/07 - Finally got scholarship offer letter from Cornell. But it's grant money that's annually contingent on my financial situation, thus not automatic.

04/11/07 - Declined acceptance to Michigan due to no merit aid.

04/10/07 - Revised scholarship offer e-mail from Duke. They've matched UVA.

04/03/07 - Declined acceptance to Georgetown, mostly due to the large class size, the lack of merit aid, and my personal reservations about job placement.

04/01/07 - Scholarship offer letter from UVA.

03/20/07 - Scholarship e-mail (per request) from Chicago.

03/12/07 - Scholarship e-mail from Northwestern.

02/07/07 - Acceptance follow-up e-mail from Chicago! Didn't get contacted earlier as the e-mail suggested I might have.

02/06/07 - Deferred by Columbia via mailed letter.

02/01/07 - Received resent copy of my decision letter from Penn, at my request. Deferral. [WITHDREW application on 02/09.]

01/29/07 - Two decisions in the mail. Berkeley rejection letter and Virginia acceptance letter. UVA status checker changed to decision on 01/26.

01/10/07 - Deferred by e-mail at Harvard.

01/09/07 - Accepted to Northwestern by e-mail! Says my official letter will be viewable online tomorrow.

01/03/07 - Withdrew my application from Vanderbilt after considering my current options. I like the location and reputation, but the curriculum doesn't align with my interests.

12/23/06 - Scholarship offer letter from Duke.

12/08/06 - Acceptance e-mail from Cornell! Says that I will
receive an official letter in the mail soon. Status check still says "EA Complete."

12/05/06 - Acceptance packet from Duke! Received an e-mail on 12/01 from Dean Hoye informing me that a decision had been mailed.

11/29/06 - Received a completion e-mail from Chicago, one day after I inquired into the completion status of my application.

11/18/06 - Acceptance packet from Michigan! Status check went to "Decision" on 11/14. I have also withdrawn my application from UIUC.

11/10/06 - Got word from the family that Georgetown has sent me an acceptance letter! Status check did not go to "Decision." Stayed at "Complete."

11/04/06 - Interviewed with a Northwestern alumnus.

10/26/06 - Just set up my Georgetown online status check. My application is complete, though I estimate that it was complete approx. one week after my LSAC report was sent.

Other notable fee waivers:
USC
WUSTL
Notre Dame
UNC
Penn and Cornell (after I applied)

No, it still just says "complete." Good luck.

How come you can't visit? Are you international? I see that you want to do gov work--from what I know, Chi has a horrible LRAP, so I hope they shell out some money for you so that it wouldn't interfere with your goals I'll be going to visit UVa in 3 wks, so you can read my rundown on LSD once I get back and I hope it will be of use to you. For me, I'm visiting UVa, Mich, and CLS. I'm thinking it's going to be a Mich vs CLS battle. I'm hoping that CLS gives me a decent grant bc it's more expensive than Mich. Honestly, I'm just going to visit, get a feel for the schools, compare aid packages and pray about it. Hopefully I get an epiphany. ~MCB

kind of law

It's really up in the air what kind of law I'd like to practice. I for sure know that I'm not interested in criminal law, lol. I'm interested in entertainment law--but that's a tough niche to crack. However, I just found out that CLS has a law & the arts clinic as well as a law & arts journal, so that's a bonus (NYU is a bit better in entertainment law, but I didn't apply there, and I guess it's self selection). Additionally, I'm going to be looking at corporate law, trusts and estates, and labor law. What makes you want to go into gov work? I'm keeping that as an option as well, after I pay back my loans.

Duke $

Did you fill out the scholarship form for the Duke money or did they just offer it to you?
