I know my LSAT is real strong but my absolutely embarrassing gpa is really holding me back...if you look at the numbers for the top three schools no one with such a low gpa, regardless of lsat score, is admitted. I've decided to apply to UPenn and UVA however, but I'm still doing ED to Georgetown. Thanks for the insight everyone
Great job with the LSAT. It should take you far with the admissions process. As for your GPA, people are naive if the think it won't matter. It really just depends on what courses you took and where the A's and B's are. I mean if you received A's and B's in classes like Calc, Econ, History, Philosophy, Chemistry, Finance, etc. and received a handful of C's and D's in a couple of electives, then it won't be a problem. However, if you struggled in the more serious courses - then it could be a problem at top schools. They may perceive you as having difficulty with advanced coursework. Also trends are important. If you struggled in your freshman year and finished strong, you should be ok.
I want to say good luck. I hope you get in everywhere you apply. Seriously.
First of all, let me congratulate you. As a fellow 2005-2006 applicant, I wish you the best of luck in law school and beyond. With all due respect, please withdraw your applications from these other schools as soon as you can. Give us all a better chance to feel the joy that consumes you these days.
