Additional info & updates

Undergrad at Tulane University

1/14: All 12 applications finally sent in.

1/15: I have decided to attend the "High Ideals Scholarship Preview" at Oklahoma City University later next week. It's from 1/22-1/23 and it sounds like it could be a fun time. I'm pretty excited, because I've never been to OKC and it'll be fun to visit the campus.

1/16: Complete at U. Pacific McGeorge

1/20: Complete at Willamette U.

1/21: Complete at U. Miami

1/22: Complete at Texas Wesleyan U., LSU, Loyola New Orleans, Western State U.

1/22: ACCEPTED at Oklahoma City U. w/ minimum $14,000/year scholarship. (I've applied for the Hatton W. Sumners Scholarship which is full tuition, fees and books paid, and living stipend. Decision will be made in March.)

1/23: ACCEPTED at Florida Coastal School of Law w/ $10,000/year Governor's scholarship.

1/24: I just got back from Oklahoma City, and had a blast visiting OCU! It definitely has me considering it more closely. The faculty and students are very friendly, and the city does seem to have some interesting things to do!

1/26: Complete at Texas Tech U., U. Houston

1/26: ACCEPTED at U. of Tulsa.
1/26: WAITLISTED at U. Miami. (Hold category, for reconsideration?)

1/30: ACCEPTED at Western State U. w/ $18,000/year scholarship.

2/3: I decided to submit an application to Tulane U. Law. I know my numbers aren't very competitive, but I go there for Undergrad, and thought I should at least give it a shot.

2/4: ACCEPTED at Loyola U. New Orleans

2/11: Complete at Tulane U.

2/12: WAITLISTED at Texas Tech U. (Active Consideration category?)
2/12: "Application under Review" at Texas Wesleyan U.

2/24: Not a finalist for interviews for the Hatton W. Sumners scholarship at OCU.

2/27: REJECTED at Louisiana State U.

3/4: WAITLISTED at Willamette U.

3/19: Email from U. Pacific McGeorge asking me to go to an Open House next month. However, I have not received my decision yet, so I don't know what that even means!

3/20: I attended an accepted students open house at Loyola New Orleans today. It was really nice, and I enjoyed the law school. Plus I'm already here for undergrad, so I might just end up staying down here for law school, also!

3/26: "File in Review" at U. Houston

3/28: Withdrew from Florida Coastal, U. Tulsa, and Western State U.

3/30: Placed the $150 first seat deposit down at Loyola New Orleans. Still waiting on several more decisions, however!

4/7: Notification of still being under "Active Consideration Category" at Texas Tech U.

4/8: Notification of "Alternate Candidate" status at U. Miami.

4/9: Email from Texas Wesleyan U., saying that the Dean had a medical emergency and has been unable to review files, but they hope to have a decision rendered by Friday 4/17.
4/9: "Decision Rendered" status on U. Pacific McGeorge status checker.
4/9: WAITLISTED at U. Pacific McGeorge.

4/14: Withdrew from Oklahoma City U. That was a tough thing to do!

4/15: File submitted for Review at Tulane U.

4/16: "Decision Rendered" status on U. Houston status checker.

4/17: "Decision has been made" status on Tulane U. status checker.
(after waiting 4 months and they only looked at the app. for a day)

4/23: DOUBLE REJECTION: U. Houston and Tulane U. (my alma mater). I guess the bright side of being rejected from my undergrad school is that I won't be sending them any alumni donations when I'm a lawyer! :)

4/29: REJECTED from Texas Tech U., after having been on the waitlist.
4/29: ACCEPTED to Texas Wesleyan with $15,000 total scholarship...

7/14: Email from U. Miami.. Class is too full, so no possibility of getting out of the "Alternate" category.

New Orleans does seem like fun. It might be a cultural shock from the Pacific NW.

My case might be a little different my acceptance was from last year and I talked to April Fox a lot through e-mail before I even applied. Then two weeks after I applied she sent me an e-mail telling me I had been accepted with the 15,000 scholarship. Then I went down there for a visit and they offered me 2,000 more a year. They mentioned that since I was a late admit there was more scholarship money. Anyways, The school is really nice the people were really friendly, the library and moot court room were beautiful, and the graduate housing was amazing. I would have gone there in a heartbeat had it not been located in Oklahoma.

Thanks from another NOLA resident

Were you "waitlisted" or placed in the "active consideration" category at Tech? I'm trying to figure out if they actually have a separate waitlist or if "active consideration" IS their Waitlist.

Thanks!
Sunday, December 28 2008 at 07:00 PM

Ok, it probably is a Waitlist then. I was just confused and wanted to see if it is a deferral or a waitlist. Yah same situation for Miami. I heard they will begin reviewing holds at the end of this month. As for Tulane, I'm not confident about acceptance but hope for the best right? My policy was you never know if you don't try. Good luck to you too!

Western State

Hey! Well they are provisionally ABA approved, but yeah it worries me, what happens if they lose that and we are in school? So I do not think I am going to accept their offer, I just don't feel like its worth it. Are you considering going?

schools???
Wednesday, December 10 2008 at 07:00 PM

I havent decided on a school yet, although I did apply for a fellowship through the centers for childrens rights at Whittier and I want to go into children's law so if I get the fellowship I will most likely go there. I have only been to the San Diego area and its beautiful. My husband is in the military and is being stationed at Camp Pendleton which is in Oceanside so it looks like I will be choosing a California school. What school are you leaning more towards?

hey

It says they sent you a notification of remaining on the WL? Was it an email or a letter?
