Yea I thought this one didn't work so I made baller68, but this is my official one now. I went to a Cal State to and we have pretty similar numbers so hopefully it works out for both of us.
Thanks. I'm nervous because I don't really know where I want to go. Do you know what type of law you want to practice.
I am working for the NYC law department in the torts division and I basically know that I don't want to do Personal Injury those lawyers are ridiclous. I worked for an employment lawyer before and really liked it so that's an option. Honestly, I am not 100% sure. Do you know what your going to get into?? Also I am not sure where I want to go either I want to get into some schools and have options. I will be stressing until I get an acceptance letter. Sometimes I wonder if should have jsut taken the money at Tulsa and wouldn't have to worry about this.
No. I think you should go to the best possible law school that you can. Money can be a motivating factor, but lesser ranked law schools have an impact on jobs or so I hear. I want to get into sports law. I love sports and I love my classes in real estate and labor and employment law so its not set in stone. However, I do know that I don't want to be a litigator.
I accidentally the comment I left before oh well. Yea, but anyways I think your right I am really considering Franklin Pierce with your numbers you should look at it to. Their bar passage rate is amazing and their 5th in the country in intellectual property law which is an interesting field. I am surprised by how low their admission standars considering their good numbers. Just an idea for you.
I looked into Franklin Pierce. I think it's a good school. But I'm a city boy, so New Hampshire doesn't really appeal to me. Thank you though. I am surprised you didn't get a fee waiver from Cardozo, they are a great school in Manhattan. Check it out.
I know what you mean about the City I actually grew up in Northridge so I now all about CSUN and Southern California and it's awesome! I'm hoping to get back. Manhattan is to much of a city though it's crazy here so I don't think Cardozo is a fit for me. Have you started applying anywhere yet?
Wow, you already heard back from Tulsa with a good amount of money :) Yes FPL is one of my top choices as well! How did you manage to get a fee-waiver from oregon? I want one :P Yes I got fee-waivers from 90% of the schools I am applying to!
and MSU!
No my deadline is Nov. 1, which is fast approaching. I kind of feel the same way about Manhattan, but I really like their Blaw Courses and internships. I like the Chicago schools. Right now I want to get away from California, at least for three years. But who knows everything is open for discussion.
I got the fee waivers from the LSAC forum and I just got another one via e-mail from Marquette for stopping by their booth. Hopefully a few more of those will come that will be awesome. I will be pissed of if I get fee waivers from Chapman and Santa Clara in my e-mail after already paying for them. To SwMontgomery it might be good to get away from California, but generally you end up living close to your law school or that is what most lawyers I work with have told me. That is a big reason I did not go to Tulsa if I lived in Oklahoma for to long I would freaking lose my mind. It is definetly good to leave California, but I still think it is the most awesome state there is!
Don't apply to Cal Western, the job prospects = extremely poor.
What's your first choice?
I think Santa Clara or USF are my top choices Oregon is up there to. However, realistically don't think I will get in to them with my numbers. Out of my realistic options Franklin Pierce, Gonzaga, and Michigan State are all high on my list. Cal Western is low on my list it's more of a backup. Maybe I will get a huge scholarship and if it was almost free or something I may consider it. Maybe. What is your first choice? Looks like you had pretty good success last time around.
I honestly don't know what my first choice is right now, it's largely dependent on the amount of scholarships I get. I wasn't ready for law school last year, thus I deferred most of my offers! USF and SCU gave me fee-waivers, I believe chapman hands them out on their info sessions too!
If you allow Law Schools to communicate with you, they will send you fee waivers. You can allow them to see your info on LSAC. That's how I got a lot of my fee waivers.
Well I paid for my Santa Clara and Chapman ones already so it's to late. I'm on the LSAC candidate site and I have gotten some through it. Still there will be others I have to pay for. I don't know what my first choice is either I just want to know where I got in how much if any scholarship etc. Then I will start considering all the options. Applying this early is kind of annoying, because nothing is even being done applications yet, I just wanted to submit some and have it over with. I didn't start law school last either, I just moved to New York in March and then to go to Oklahoma 4 months later seemed like I was rushing it and it would have been to much. Living in 3 states in one year. Plus I only applied to Tulsa and I wanted to know if I could do better only time will tell if I made the right choice.
Do you have a CRS screen popping out every time you submit an application on LSAC right before you pay the fees? It's weird.
Not that I rememeber just goes to the shopping cart I give up some money then I get an e-mail from LSAC saying the application went through. No CRS that I can remember sorry you are having troubles.
Definitely some overlap. I don't really have a first choice. I'd be most happy with ASU, Marquette, UCD, Santa Clara or UNLV if I had to have a top tier. I got into Marquette my last cycle in '02 and I'd like for it to happen again.
Does anyone know what the index number means in the columm like why is Pacific and Marquette so high and the other's in the 2's what is up with that does anyone know?
Good luck on your schools! Have you heard from any yet? Chapman is not too good with emails!
I got multiple emails from them to attend events, but I've never heard back from them since I submitted my application. Odd.
This a response to the comment below I sent her an e-mail, but just in case anyone else wants to know how I got the fee waivers here is the story hopefully it can help somebody else out too. Hey, this is Ryan you left me a comment on lawschoolnumbers.com saying we had the same LSAT score and asking how I got the fee waivers. The main reason I got them was by going to the LSAC forum and registering before hand. Also during the forum a lot of schools told me that is free to apply if you submit before December 31st. Then there are a few others that are free if you just go through their websites instead of LSAC. Anyways, here is a quick list of how I got the fee waivers from each school. I honestly have nothing to do at work and am bored out of my mind so sorry if this is to detailed. Schools free if you apply before December 31st are: Golden Gate, Widener, Texas Wesleyan, Drexel, Florida Coastal, and La Verne. I think some of them may be free anytime, but I know a few you have to submit by December 31st. Then I just registered for the LSAC forum and I got e-mails from Michigan State, Oregon, Utah, and Roger Williams saying if I stopped by the booth they would give me a fee waiver which they did. I have no intention of going to Utah or Roger Williams so I did not apply. Franklin Pierce just offered me one after talking to the counselor. While I was there I talked to a ton of other schools and over the next week I got an e-mail from Marquette with a fee waiver attached and Penn State sent me a letter with a fee waiver as a thank for you talking to them at their booth. Also I know University of Tulsa is free to apply through their website and so is McGeorge. I hope that helps you, the fee waivers to good schools I got through LSAC forum in New York and if you have a chance to get to one I would say it is your best bet. I looked on the LSAC website and doesn't look like they are doing anymore until February though, but I could be wrong. I also asked this same question on lawschool discussion and there may be a few others that are free through LSAC like Case Western, George Mason, Willamette. I dont know if it is true or not it's just what other people told me. Here is the link of the conversation http://www.lawschooldiscussion.org/prelaw/index.php/topic,4014644.0.html. I hope that helps, I have gotten pretty lucky with fee waivers so far and I know it sucks to pay the application fees. If you have any other questions feel free to e-mail me anytime and good luck! Ryan
Congrats! When did you go complete?
My status checker updated to "decision mailed" on 12/15 and since I live nearby I was lucky enough to get my acceptance today in the mail. You should get yours soon, so good luck!
I applied in July and transmitted my final materials in the middle of November with a second copy of my application; a week ago I got an e-mail that my file was incomplete. They indeed had no record of my application and since I live in Philly I just drove them down another copy and the receptionist assured me she would explain the situation to admissions....but small consolation for me losing three weeks of review time...how does a school request and receive my law school report but yet have no record of my application?
Congrats on your admits so far...I've actually been following your posts intermittently since Nov...I imagine you'll see materials from them soon...it took them 4 days from website notification for the snail mail to hit. Good luck with Drexel too; they are new I guess and trying to work out all the bugs.
Best of luck on the rest of your apps. Its going to be hard to turn down all that money you got for others.
that was my comment above-- wasn't signed in!
Ya I was surprised by the waitlist. Orange County is pretty nice, but after visiting I decided that it wasn't for me. Good Luck and I hope you get in.
Hey there! Congratulations on your acceptances so far.. I just got accepted to Tulsa today, and saw that you got in there too. I was wondering, were you sent scholarship information with the acceptance letter?
What did your status checker say when Texas Wesleyan accepted you? Mine just says Decision Rendered Decision mailed.
So, have you decided on where you will be going? I am considering La Verne, and wanted some thoughts on it.
im officially going to MSU. Go Green. Go White. fuck all the rest.
grats on La Verne== i know it's not your top choice but its a lot of moneyyyyyyy
Hey, I will send you an email about FIU in a little.
Hey. Congrats on the acceptances, but hopefully Santa Clara, Seattle or Chapman come through for you. If you have any interest in IP law, I'd say go to Franklin Pierce they are pretty well known for it, even in New Hampshire. Otherwise, MSU might be a better choice. Looking at job prospects FIU students probably compete with Miami, Florida, Stetson and a few others. I think MSU falls in behind Michigan. Although MSU's grads have been involved in a few scandals as of late, I think their alumni connection is probably strong than FIU, which is a relatively new law school. Both schools are regiona so you'd probably be confined to the area for a few years. Good Luck.
hi, sorry if it is a sensitive subject. i am also waitlisted at seattle. did your online status change, or did you get an email or letter in the mail? if it was your online status, did it give you a date? thanks for any info. hopefully santa clara comes through!
I sent you an e-mail n LSN
You will love to live in Miami ;)
good times.
Sorry, just saw your question. I was notified by phone, admissions called me and made an offer for a Part Time seat. She didn't ask for an answer right then, she asked me to call in by the next day at 2:30, 24 hours after she had called me. Hope this helps, good luck to you!
My status changed to "admitted", and a letter was sent the same day.
I thought about waiting for Golden Gate and some other schools. On my preference, I put CW ahead of GG for various reasons... 1) I have commitments to my family and it would be so hard to re-locate, especially with my husband still in school. 2) I like the small communal feeling. 3) It has a higher bar passage rate over the past couple years. 4) Golden Gate doesn't offer any specialty interest programs in Healthcare Law (which I'm interested in). It's not that I wasn't interested in Golden Gate, but I also feel time is constraining, where the sooner I get law school over, the sooner I can start making money to support my family. I would wait for Golden Gate and a few other schools, but I feel the location is probably the biggest thing keeping me with CW. It's about a 2 hour drive from my home, which is important so that I can see my daughter more often than if I was up in Northern California. However, thanks for the advice. It's good to know that previous law applicants are looking out for the wellbeing of current applicants. :)
Hey - thanks for the positive comment. I'm interested in hearing more about your experiences at GG so far. Are you in the Honors Lawyering Program? Your general feelings after your first year? Would love to hear how things have been there . . .
Thank you for your support! Youre awesome!
No problem glad to know it was helpful. Things are still going well, but I am just sick of being in school. Almost 66% done though yea! If anyone has any questions about GGU I will be happy to answer them.
Are you also Baller68? Anyways good luck.
