Additional info & updates

- Was notified almost a month ago that everything was in and accounted for.

- Samford sent me an email that said a decision was usually made within 2 to 4 weeks, so I am coming up on the high end of that now.

-I toured the University of Tennessee and sat in on a class during the middle of October. Professor seemed very solid and was a nice guy when I talked with him after class. Facility was good, and the people I met were nice as well. Admissions was very helpful.

- Got a rejection letter from Kentucky. Not overly surprised. It is tough to go out of state to a state school with my numbers. It wasn't my first choice, but still a little disappointing.

-Got a letter of acceptance to Samford. Feels good to get the first acceptance. Waiting to hear from UT before I make my final decision. 1-22-09

I'm just up the road from you at EKU. Good luck with your applications. You might think about applying to NKU (Chase). You would be an auto-admit, plus it had a great location next to Cincinnati.

Thanks

It does feel great to get the first letter, especially when it is from your first choice! I may consider NKU if they give me full tuition, but UK has such a wonderful reputation and alumni support it would be hard to turn down. I'm sure that since I am a KY resident that didn't hurt. Good luck to you! Hopefully they will look past your LSAT, they did for me.

Sorry about the rejection...you are right, I believe that although it is not explicitly stated, they prefer in-state residents. Oh well, hopefully UT will accept you, which is just as good if not better than UK.

Have you still not heard anything? I imagine that at least Samford will accept you, and hopefully Tennessee. If they don't, I think you should reconsider Nashville b/c they are not ABA accredited - If you ever wanted to leave the state, you could't. I still think you should apply to Northern Kentucky University.

I'm applying to Samford, too! I too am wondering what the "2 to 4 week" thing is all about. I submitted in mid-December, so I'm still in the bracket, but I don't think we should count the past two weeks because of the holidays. Good luck, and keep everyone posted!

Did it really take you from October to January to hear from Samford? I applied on January 18, and I received the "2-4 weeks" notification that you mentioned, but I haven't heard anything about being able to check the status of my application online.

Nice to see another teacher applying. Congrats on your acceptances and your upcoming decision. I teach fifth grade math at the elementary school level... in fact, it is back to the grind tomorrow morning! Cheers!

I finally got the status checker e-mail I guess a week [maybe even two] ago. I hope it'll be soon!
