Additional info & updates

12/14 - Sent in all of my applications after waiting three agonizing weeks to get a third recommendation letter processed. Since that's an optional one for all the schools I applied to, only time will tell if that risky wait paid off.

12/22 - Accepted at Chapman (via Status Checker). However, I don't know if I got scholarship money because I requested that all of my mail be sent to my college and I'm still on winter break. I definitely was not expecting to hear back within a week. But I guess it's a nice little Christmas gift :)

1/3 - Checked the mail back at school. Got a full tuition offer from Chapman--not a bad backup option at all.

1/11 - Accepted at Baylor. Got a full tuition offer here too. Pepperdine also changed my application status to "decision rendered."

1/14 - Got a big envelope from Pepperdine. They're offering a Dean's scholarship which comes out to about 3/4 tuition each year as long as I'm competent. Big day tomorrow though, George Washington Early Decisions come out tomorrow...

1/15 - Got deferred from George Washington :(. At least I still have the opportunity to get admitted through the regular admissions process. I also applied for the Faculty Scholars Scholarships for Pepperdine, which gives a full tuition scholarship with a 5k stipend. Hopefully I get lucky.

1/26 - Just got a call from UCI's Dean of Admissions Ortiz and got accepted. She informed me that I'd be receiving mail from UCI shortly. I read a news article at the end of last year that said UCI would be offering at least half scholarships to all of the students in the 2nd graduating class.

1/30 - Got an acceptance letter from UC Hastings via snail mail today. I'm happy that I got in, but I'm a little disappointed that their scholarship notification letter, according to their website, won't be sent to me until April. Not knowing this makes choosing this school rather difficult--hopefully I get a good amount of money.

2/1 - Just got a call from Associate Director of Admissions Laura Getelson from Boston University. She let me know that I've been accepted and that I'd be getting mail shortly.

2/4 - Got a call from Hastings again, except this time it was from a current 1st year student there. Definitely a surprise, but it was great hearing from a student there so that I could get a better read of what life and academics are like at Hastings. This call added a personal touch and raised my interest in this school.

2/5 - Received my first rejection/waitlist from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Got it through email this morning, which is about as personal as breaking up with your girlfriend over the internet. Oh well, at least I didn't really lose much since the application fee was waived.

2/5 - Also got my Berkeley rejection today. And it's raining today too :(

2/18 - Spoke with UCI's Dean Chemerinsky today. Asked him a couple questions about the school like job placement, provisional accreditation and clinical programs. I was surprised at how down-to-earth he seemed. Speaking with him definitely put UCI higher on my list.

2/22 - Rejections keep rolling in. Got waitlisted at George Washington and Rejected at UCLA :(

3/12 - Busy time--Got accepted to UC Davis's King Hall today. Also got notified earlier of a $10,000 Scholarship from Hastings. Apparently it's their largest scholarship, which I find strange because it is a fraction of the total cost of a yearly law education.

3/15 - And the rejections keep rolling in...this time from Georgetown. On the bright side though, Davis just notified me that I am eligible for an estimated $23,000 in grants.

4/1 - Made my decision to attend UCI. I'm very happy with my decision and look forward to working hard at this new school of law.
