Additional info & updates

1-16-07 Sigh of relief after getting accepted to Lewis & Clark. It's a little annoying having to wait two weeks for every acceptance/rejection letter to arrive. After getting three rejections in a row, it was good to finally get some good news.

2-01-07-Feeling sort of homesick for Los Angeles. Realized that I left myself no option of returning to LA. So dropped a last minute app to UCLA. It had so many additional essays it took me like two days to prepare the app! Otherwise haven't received jack in the mail. Takes like 2 weeks for anything to arrive over here!

2-26-07 Last week right before Chinese New Years and my trip to Kyoto, Japan for a Global Warming conference, I got my rejection letter from Berkley and a Waitlist at GWU. Bummer, but not really a surprise, I was on the bubble at both schools. Today I got an acceptance letter from American, but haven't had the time to go through the package yet. I'll update later.

3-11-07 Got listed as an "alternate" for the Public Interest Scholarship at American. It certainly would help take the buzz off of the 50+k it would take a year to live in DC and study there. I like the public interest and international law emphasis in the school, not to mention that I have met some AU people while out here in Taiwan and they seemed really cool. Will see about WUSTL and UCLA though...WUSTL has had my app for like 5 months now!

4-2-07 Got the we wait listed you. We won't be taking anybody off the wait list, but if you want to be on the wait list that we are not going to take you off of, please sign here. Nice! Bummer, but it was ironic in a nice way.

4-15-07 Situation may change, but for the moment I am in love with Lewis & Clark. I am sort of secretly hoping that maybe I am meant to head to Portland, if UCLA doesn't accept me and WUSTL and GW don't take me off the waitlist. That being said L&C's campus looks gorgeous, I'm sold on their E-law program, Portland's awesome, plus American was just so damn expensive it was impossible to take the school in comparison with schools roughly around the same level. That being said, if I wasn't sold on doing environmental law, then I wouldn't have taken L&C.

Yep, they sure are. This whole looking at the applicant as a whole is BS and everyone knows it. It comes down to the subjective opinion of 1 person. And it's the leader of the 3 or 4 person adcomm committee, whoever they may be. They may have 3 people for show, but only the more influential of the 3 has the final say... and you can bet they have their own unique set of biases and what they think does or does not equal success in law school. I think that's why my results have been so freaggin unpredictable and such a mixed bag in general. Hope you get your #1!
