Sent out 13 apps -- I know, I know; that's an unlucky number. My superstitious side says, "Fill out just one more, just to be safe." But my practical side says, "You've spent a crapload of money on this process as it is. Save up for those upcoming three years of poverty."

01/05/07 - In at Kansas, my alma mater; notified by phone call. Now for the other 12.

01/11/07 - In at William & Mary; big packet came in the mail. Considering I applied two and a half weeks ago, over the holidays, that is extremely fast.

01/12/07 - In at Indiana; big folder came in the mail.

01/19/07 - In at Iowa; notified by e-mail.

01/20/07 - In at Vanderbilt; notified by snail mail. (The thinness of the envelope was misleading, but its contents were much more gratifying.) Another school with a very quick response.

01/23/07 - In at SMU; notified by phone call.

01/24/07 - In at Washington (Seattle); notified by snail mail, in a small envelope.

01/29/07 - In at Washington (St. Louis); notified by e-mail.

02/02/07 - In at Illinois; notified by mail (large envelope). This would explain the "Admitted Students Forum" e-mail I got freakin' yesterday.

02/03/07 - In at Texas; notified by mail (small envelope).

02/15/07 - In at Notre Dame; notified by e-mail.

03/07/07 - Offered a chance last week to get on the waitlist at Michigan; I sent in the form today. Also withdrew from Washington (Seattle) to make room for other people; more withdrawals will be coming soon.

03/13/07 - Two more withdrawals: Washington (St. Louis) and Illinois.

03/23/07 - In at UCLA; notified by phone call.

03/28/07 - Withdrew from Vanderbilt and William & Mary.

03/29/07 - Withdrew from Kansas, Indiana, SMU and Notre Dame.

03/31/07 - Withdrew from UCLA and Iowa. Sending in my deposit to the University of Texas.
