Additional info & updates

I want UK!

10/20--- I applied to UK! I'm glad to get that one out; its the one I'm stressing the most over!

11/27--- Visited UK College of Law! I loved the class that I sat in and the students. It was a lot of fun! Good visit overall... :) Ugh! It makes me want UK even more!

12/3--- Deferred at UK. I'm just glad I wasn't rejected! My hopes are still alive! :D

12/10--- Appalachian School of Law called me. It was weird... rather ackward, really. They just wanted me to know that my file was complete, then it kinda slipped into interview mode. I was nice and polite, but I gave generic answers. I hope that doesn't hurt my chances at their scholarships.

12/11--- I need to find somewhere else to apply.

1/17--- Yay! Finally an acceptance! Appalachian School of Law... Not my first choice, but it does feel good!

2/11--- Freaking deferred again at UK. I do not like them at all.

3/10--- Accepted to NKU! WOOO!

--- Deferred again at UK. Third Time. This blows.

3/22--- Scholarship offer from NKU- $18,000!

3/28--- Alternative list at UK... yuck.

Good luck to you! I hope you do well.

Do you go to Transy or Centre, or another private school? I go to EKU and will be applying to these same schools next year, except for Memphis. What do you think about Chase? It's probably my realistic 2nd choice behind UK.

number1
Wednesday, May 10 2006 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, U of L is my number 1. I moved here almost a year ago, and don't really want to move anywhere else. I feel like i'm kind of stuck if I don't get in. I also applied to UK and they had me do more work to prove my residency. They got back to me and sai d that I will be considered as a resident. UK is better, but UL is closer.

Good luck on UK!

Thanks for responding! I have heard of Alice Lloyd for sure...down there in the metropolis of Pippa Passes, lol. Good luck! I really want UK as well, but to answer your question, I will be applying next year and taking the lsat this June. Hopefully we'll see each other at UK eventually. Hearing about your visits would be great! Are you originally from KY? My hometown is close to the Morehead/Maysville area in the Northeast.

I don't really have a top choice yet, on purpose. I didn't want to get my hopes up plus I applied to several schools I've never seen which makes it hard to say. (That includes Kentucky. I'll visit if I get in.) With your GPA combined with being a resident, I don't think you have anything to worry about. It was silly of them to defer you in the first place! :)

UK Deferral
Monday, October 29 2007 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the congrats! I was really surprised that I got accepted. After my deferral, I sent in a very specific letter of continued interest (LOCI) that not only detailed why UK, but also updated my activities and why I thought I would be a good addition to the class. I also sent in an additional essay about the diversity I could bring to the class (for me this is work experience) and a final transcript showing my fall grades grades and the conferral of my MBA (I just graduated with it in Dec). I'd be happy to email you a copy of my LOCI if you want - just let me know. What have you sent in so far? If you have yet to submit additional materials, I would definitely send stuff in. Dean Bakert's note at the bottom of my acceptance letter thanked me for the additional info and said it really helped the committee. An LOCI, a new essay (diversity, why UK, etc), additional rec letter... I bet some combo of those would find you accepted in no time! Let me know if you have more questions.

I'm emailing you the letter tonight - let me know if you don't get it!

No problem!

I just hope it helps you get in! If you want another pair of eyes for editing/another opinion, feel free to email me your LOCI and I'd be happy to read over it. Keep us posted and good luck!

What is...

the alternative list? You mean you were waitlisted? Or is it something else? I bet you can still get in - just don't stop being persistent.

Admitted Students Day
Wednesday, September 05 2007 at 08:00 PM

One of the more boring events I think I've EVER attended. But hey, once school starts, it'll get TWICE as boring!! ;-0) I just got my job offer from a huge firm in Cincy that transfers to clerk, then associate, so at least my job situation is settled now. How did you like it? Still holding on UK?

Congrats

UK vs. U of L

I hope UK goes ahead and admits you. If you end up at U of L, your friends and family may never forgive you...;)

Congratulations on your acceptance to Northern Kentucky University! Why NKU over UofL, the money? -- A fellow Kentuckian
