I was in a dancecore band. That's it.

This apparently did not impress Vanderbilt or Cornell, but Notre Dame was impressed. Catholics enjoy dancecore.

I'm pretty sure my not-so-great state school pedigree dinged me at Cornell and WUSTL. My LOR's were filled with high-praise and my essay had been reviewed quite thoroughly by many individuals, so I think it was my resume/background or lack thereof that limited my options.
