Did you apply for both full and part, or just full?

Stetson v. FIU should be a no brainer for you. FIU is relatively the same quality as Stetson, yet you'll be roughly 80grand richer when you graduate.

I am a little worried about job opportunities at FIU because it is so new. I keep hearing they are on the rise though. Does anyone have any idea about their career placement?

If you do a little bit of research on the fiu website you'll find your answer. The section for Career Services has a list of firms that accept fiu students to their summer programs. There are several national firms on that list. Then if you go to the firm's website you can usually find a list of all associates employed and where they got their degrees. I did this and when compared to other schools there were a significant number of FIU grads making good money at major firms. If I'm accepted I will definitely be there. And the tuition is GREAT! Hope this helps...

You applied full time. Congratulations! FIU is a great school, despite the fact the law school hasnt been around for long. They have a high bar exam passage rate.

I wanted to let you know what I heard on the job front with FIU. I was accepted to St. Thomas, but was worried if it was woth attending a private tier 4 school. ( you hear lots of junk about 100K plus debt and making 40 grand annually) So I got online NALP directory and searched large law firms in So FL. You can even search some of the directories by school. Most listed Nova and StThomas, and of course Miami. But very few listed FIU as the JD granting school .(More listed it as undergrad) Infact it was only one out of 13 firms that I checked and only one person at that. I was curious so I asked a friend who is a hiring attorney for a larger law firm in FL. He didn't even know FIU was accreditied yet. Worrisome. But keep in mind you wouldn't be graduating for 3 more years which might give them more time to make a name on the job market. I am not saying don't, I have applied there as well and am considering attending if admitted. :) I am just telling you that you are right to list it as a concern. Do you have an idea of the area in which you plan to practice? If so I would research that field specifically and even call the career services department for a list of firms where they have placed students. Hope that helps, I am sure you will make the decision that is right for you! Good Luck!!

Congrats! Hope to see you there in the fall. I will most likely be attending the "U" as well. :) I've lived in the area for a couple of years now so if you have any questions please feel free to email me!
