What are your softs? I'm applying to WVU with slightly better stats, but I'm wondering how you managed to pull a $15k scholarship

Hi Conchobor, I really think a lot of it had to do with my personal statement and the challenges that I experienced and overcame during my undergrad and a short time after. I was not involved in much of anything during my undergrad. Most of what I have done occurred after the fact. However, aside from work experience as a paralegal, internships with the San Diego Public Defender's office, and General Management experience with a corporate restaurant chain, I went back to school and maintained a 4.0 GPA in approximately 62 unit hours of legal coursework, thus achieving an AA in legal studies, and a graduate certificate in Paralegal studies. I really played on the idea that my undergrad doesn't accurately reflect my academic abilities. I used my post graduate coursework to show what I could do, and thoroughly explained my situation in an addendum. I also listed some volunteer work I was involved in within my community, ie. park cleanup. I hope this was helpful. Good luck!

How did you hear from them? I've been sitting on pending since Thanksgiving. Does it really take that long?

Hi Hopper_d, They called to personally relay the message. They did tell me that a formal letter should be arriving. I applied back in October, and it did take them until now to fully review my app. Hang in there. :)

How long was your Idaho app in review before they made the decision?

Wednesday, October 15 2014 at 05:04 PM

Nezahaulcoyotl, they received my application on 10/16/2014 and the marked it complete on 11/12/2014. I was notified of acceptance on 12/11/2014. So, my application was in review for about a month.
