11/4/2011: Accepted at John Marshall via email offering to start school in January, 2012. I decided to keep my start date as Fall 2012. $30,000 scholarship for four years. That was quick!
11/11/2011: DePaul status checker changed to "Decision Rendered" last night. Of course, I didn't sleep. This morning it changed to "Accepted-Congratulations!". At 10am, the Dean confirmed the acceptance via email. What a relief!
12/19/2011: Kent status date updated and description changed to: "Your file is under ongoing review by the Admissions Committee." Is it a covert way to say "Waitlisted"?
1/6/2012: Kent status changed to "Admitted" before noon and I got an email confirmation from the Dean right after 8pm. So happy!!!
2/2/2012: Waitlisted at Loyola via email.
4/6/2012: Submitted the tuition deposit to Kent and withdrew from JMLS. It was a very hard decision to turn down the scholarship but I really love the atmosphere at Kent. Students just seem to be happy there and the staff has been extremely helpful and supportive. I also had to ask myself: if I lost the scholarship where would I want to be? The answer was easy: Chicago-Kent.
5/4/2012: Received an email from JMLS to increase my scholarship offer if I was still interested. It was tempting but I feel strongly about attending Kent.
5/16/2012: Starting my first class next week at Chicago-Kent thanks to the early start program.
I hope this page will serve as an encouragement for you to apply to your dream schools (and apply early!) even if you are told you wouldn't get in. It's better to get a rejection than not taking a chance. As my example shows, the LSAT score is not everything. Good luck to you!
Why didn't you apply to full time programs?
- iukwu12I work full time and I'm planning law school with that job in mind.
- artorresThat was sure quick from DePaul. Because you are PT?
- EngineTumblerhow did they notify you?
- number50lq2I got an email from the Associate Dean.
- artorresI see you put Kent at #1. That's my number one too. Maybe we'll see each other!
- number50lq2No! That ongoing review message means you've passed "phase one" of the adcom review!! (my status was updated to say that too)
- number50lq2Thank you for the status info. That is really good to know! Waiting is no fun--I make up a lot of things in my mind. ;-)
- artorresI know...I made that up in my head too...
- number50lq2congratulations!!! see I told you the ongoing review part meant "passed phase one"
- number50lq2Yes, you did and you were correct. Thank you for your encouragements! I hope you won't have to wait much longer for the good news. :-)
- artorresI found out via status checker. It just said scholarship letter had been sent and it said what the amount was. Hope that helps
- dlemCongrats on Kent! I also applied PT so might be running into you in the fall!
