Additional info & updates

PhD Electrical and Computer Engineering
worked for 10 years.

03-26-12

After a difficult decision process, I have decided to take my talents to New Hampshire and go full-time. I might regret it but going to an engineering law school and having my law school fully paid is worth it.

03-19-12

I withdrew from a few more schools. Seattle took me off the waitlist and gave me some money too.

02-08-12

Rejected at Yale. That shouldn't have been a surprise. I wish they would have sent the rejection via mail so I could frame the rejection letter.

I withdrew from Phoenix. They never responded to me like they promised and I won't attend a law school that expects me to do what they won't do, that is be honest.

1-31-12

I sent off withdrawals today to most of the schools that had waitlisted me. I withdrew from Catholic, and GW. For some reason I took it personal. Wake Forest and Roger Williams got the ding too. I was told I would not be able to start a top free club at WF and RW.

Arizona State accepted me, but I don't think I will get a scholarship and I don't want to pay out of state tuition. We will see.

I never heard back from Phoenix and Yale still hasn't contacted me. I am sure I have a chance at Yale.

Miami and UNLV took me off their waitlists. Exciting. Either of these places should welcome my topfree talents.

I am not feeling the love.

01-19-12

I was accepted at Wake Forest, yippee, it is legal to be topfree in the state of North Carolina. The $60,000 also helped.

I was accepted at Roger Williams. It isn't quite full tuition but close. I have never been to Rhode Island.

I was accepted at UNH. They gave me what I believe is full tuition and a book bonus. I have always been fascinated with this school. I need to look up New Hampshire's topfree laws.

01-11-12

Waitlisted at GW. I figured they had to do that since they didn't want to give me four year guaranteed scholarship. I have no clue if they will take me off the waitlist.

Still no Fed Ex envelop from Phoenix. I am not sure what that means.

01-09-12

Phoenix Law School called and wants me to start law school in two weeks. I told them I couldn't afford it now. They offered me more money. I got them to accept full tuition scholarship for 3 years, $500 book stipend every semester, and $1000 living allowance each semester. I told them I would accept all of that if they made the full-tuition scholarship guaranteed for 3 years, instead of maintaining a 2.5 average in each class. They said they could probably do that but needed to make sure. Phoenix Law called back and said that was a deal but I had to agree to it immediately. I told them to put it all in writing and have it signed and Fed Ex it to me over night, with a return Fed Ex envelop. They told me they will try to do that. Who knows, I might be going to Phoenix Law School. The lady that called didn't seem to excited about putting it in writing and having it signed.

01-06-12

Accepted at Chicago-Kent. Finally some Chicago love. I am waiting to hear on $$$. They have a lot of patent people and Chicago is a great place for IP.

01-05-12

I haven't heard anything in a while from the rest of the Schools. I assume they are taking a break.

12-17-11

I have missed a few emails and now I am getting caught up.

I am in UTTER shock.
Georgetown accepted me and gave me a scholarship. This makes no sense based on my other rejections. I wouldn't be surprised if they contacted me and said it was a mistake.
Catholic waistlisted me.
San Diego rejected me. My brother teaches there. I thought I was a guarantee.
Seattle waistlisted me. I had read they take anyone with an LSAT over 156.

12-14-11

Rejected at Santa Clara. I thought they took all Phds.

12-09-11

Rejected at Minnesota. I thought they were in desperate need of an URM Engineer.

12-09-11

I called up Phoenix and asked them why they waitlisted me. They told me they didn't know and would have someone call me back. One hour later I got an email saying I had been accepted and that I was receiving a scholarship. It looks like I am taking my topfree talents to Phoenix.

12-09-11

Rejected at UNLV. I would have loved to say that the topfree rebel was a Rebel.

12-02-11

Rejected via email at American. I thought for sure they were would accept me on my topfree softs alone.

12-02-11

Miami waitlisted me. That beats a rejection. I will have to give them a call.

What EA means to me
Wednesday, September 07 2011 at 08:00 PM

No, what i just meant by EA was I sent them in early. Thats all. No binding or early decison programs. However some schools did get back to me rather quickly

hey
Saturday, May 14 2011 at 08:00 PM

Just checked my status. I forgot about that school. I was rejected from that school. No sweat though. Im going to alabama unless I get in anywhere ranked higher.

I don't know why you were rejected. They waitlisted me and you have better numbers than I do. I am rooting for you. Roll Tide.

miami
Thursday, November 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

were you placed on hold at miami or did they send you something that said waitlist?

Miami Hold
Thursday, November 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

When you are as desperate as I am you call a hold a waitlist.

Keep Your head up!
Wednesday, September 07 2011 at 08:00 PM

You gotta stay positive!! Something will come thru for you...

Similar approach
Monday, November 14 2011 at 07:00 PM

We took a similar approach.. cast a wide net. I'm hoping that the "EE" factor helps too, but it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of difference overall. I'm almost certain you're going to get something that you like out of this cycle!

Don't Worry
Wednesday, September 28 2011 at 08:00 PM

Don't worry about Phoenix man, with your numbers, you'll get into a better school.

Hi
Wednesday, June 22 2011 at 08:00 PM

To be honest with you I don't really understand the process myself. Your LSAT score is strong enough to get you into a good school. You might want to review your personal statement. Good luck this cycle.

Phoenix!
Monday, November 14 2011 at 07:00 PM

Hey! Nice score at Phoenix! Congratulations on that one! I had to laugh at "topfree softs."

UNLV
Sunday, December 19 2010 at 07:00 PM

You had asked on my page why no UNLV application. I've lived in Vegas for 8 years and my wife and I have decided that the culture in the town isn't one fit for raising kids (at least not to our standards). Congrats on Phoenix...just be careful and do your research as I hear that their graduates oftentimes have difficulty finding JD required jobs even in the Phoenix area after graduation.

Phoenix
Monday, November 21 2011 at 07:00 PM

That's amazing that you went from waitlisted to accepted WITH a scholarship! Congrats and I'll keep that in mind when I get waitlisted. I'm just waiting to get some decisions.

Santa Clara
Wednesday, October 26 2011 at 08:00 PM

I got the acceptance via snail mail.

Nice!
Thursday, December 15 2011 at 07:00 PM

Georgetown! Wow! That makes me wonder because I applied to a lot of the same schools as you and haven't heard anything. I am getting really nervous. I want some of what you got! haha

h2oplyer7
Thursday, November 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

I am beyond shocked. I don't even want to tell anyone for fear Georgetown will call and apologize for the mistake.

Thursday, November 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

BALLIN' I'm so happy for you Congrats

I love it!
Thursday, December 15 2011 at 07:00 PM

I would be nervous too, but super excited! You should call them though and reserve your seat. You have some strong softs. Maybe there was something that attracted them. I am sure there is no mistake. Congrats again! Gives me hope!

GW
Wednesday, September 07 2011 at 08:00 PM

Well would you look at that... Congratulations!

Georgetown!
Monday, November 14 2011 at 07:00 PM

..And you were obsessing over Franklin Pierce.. GREAT FOR YOU!!

Saturday, December 17 2011 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the compliment on my cycle thus far. Maybe I'll see you at Georgetown!

Decisions, decisions
Saturday, July 23 2011 at 08:00 PM

It appears as though you're having a good cycle. congrats fellow splitter on getting into Georgetown. Would you choose the PT program at a higher ranked school or would you rather stick with full time, even if the school is ranked lower?

Congrats
Wednesday, June 09 2010 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Gtown, that's awesome!

Thanks!
Tuesday, October 04 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for your comment (I think?) :-) Would that it were universally true. --and congrats on your Georgetown admit! Pretty awesome.

Congrats!
Monday, October 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

I was going to congratulate you on getting accepted into Kent. But I noticed you got into Georgetown. Congrats! Nevermind Kent!

Monday, September 19 2011 at 08:00 PM

Well, thanks for such kind words. I feel I have applied to some top notch schools ex. Temple, Michigan State, Southwestern, and University of San Francisco.

Monday, October 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thanks. Things have gone well so far, I am still waiting to hear from the higher ranked schools on my list. Hopefully my streak continues. Good Luck on the rest of your cycle.

Tuesday, August 30 2011 at 08:00 PM

No, I'm in MD.

Monday, October 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

I understand debt aversion, but would you really consider phoenix over Georgetown? If you were to get a Georgetown JD to go with a PH.d in engineering, you would be looking at at a top law starting salary, regardless of where you graduate in Georgetown's class.

Tuesday, August 30 2011 at 08:00 PM

Haha, it's ok. Yes, I want to do IP law. I assume w/ your major, you're looking at the same field?

Thanks dude!
Sunday, December 18 2011 at 07:00 PM

Yeah Cooley is totally upping their selectivity. Hopefully my LSN will serve as a warning to others applying in the future, On serious note, congrats on Georgetown! That's hot shit!

Thursday, November 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

I would give this phoenix decision a serious consideration especially considering your acceptance to Georgetown. perhaps a take a few days.

Something else to consider...
Sunday, December 18 2011 at 07:00 PM

Hey, you got in at Georgetown, and a degree from that school will take far. On other hand, let's say you did 1 year at Phoenix, finished it at the top of the class. Then you could transfer to other schools. Hmmm maybe that's shitty advice. Too risky. Don't listen to me.

charlotte
Saturday, December 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

yeah - they offered me money. full ride contingent upon performance

Saturday, October 08 2011 at 08:00 PM

So are you going to go ?? Wow out of law school debt free ... And they are paying for living ..... I would take it !!!! Please let me know if you are going to go !

School choices
Tuesday, August 02 2005 at 08:00 PM

Why would you remain in some of the schools that are lower-ranked while you have access to higher ranked schools?

Tuesday, January 10 2012 at 07:00 PM

Accepted to GULC? Amazing! Money is definitely a deciding factor, but when it comes down to Ivy League school versus run-of-the-mill school, I'd take the former.

Congrats
Monday, October 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on being accepted to wake.

Holy Crap!
Monday, November 14 2011 at 07:00 PM

Wow! All at once! Nice admits, Miss!

Understood
Monday, October 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

I empathize with you. Twenty thousand dollars a year is equal to about 1/2 tuition at Wake right? Thats not great, but it also isn't that bad. People often pay much more to go to much lesser schools.

Re. UNLV ASW
Thursday, October 20 2011 at 08:00 PM

I'll be there! I'll also be at ASU's events (whenever they may be...). Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

ASU money
Thursday, November 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

ASU hasn't gotten back to me on money yet. They have to be the slowest school ever.

phoenix, topfree, Kent
Saturday, December 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

I think I will withdraw from Phoenix...I've been in review since Nov 2011 with no updates on status checker or anything. What's top free? Are you doing full-time at Kent, if you decide to attend? I'm still waiting on a response from Kent...think I'll give them a ring again

So, where ya going?
Monday, November 14 2011 at 07:00 PM

Have you decided on your school? Tough call, but I'd vote for full ride at Franklin Pierce or Wake.

re: why part time DC
Tuesday, February 14 2012 at 07:00 PM

Hi, I saw your message a while back but wanted to wait for a bit more of my cycle to unfold before replying. I think D.C. part time is a great option. You have the USPTO just around the corner (and actually they're currently hiring!), and a lot of patent law firms reside in the D.C. area. This means you could lessen your debt by a LOT by going part time and working at either the USPTO or a firm. Some firms even pay for your full law school tuition. Those jobs are not easy to get, but since you're an EE, I assume you could have... especially if you had attended GULC. Had I been in your shoes, I would have forgone Franklin Pierce and I would have gone to GULC part time. Your earning potential from GULC as well as your general opportunities in general would have been greater at GULC. I just hope they offer me your spot! Good luck though... There's nothing wrong with getting a law degree for peanuts, so Franklin Pierce is a defensible choice.

re: why part time DC
Tuesday, February 14 2012 at 07:00 PM

Although to be honest, getting a patent agent job in a law firm is very difficult, especially in this economy. Since I may go to American University part-time, I have been applying to a bunch and it's not easy...I actually don't think I'll have a firm job before the start of the semester. So... if you could somehow guarantee a firm job by the time GULC starts, it's the best financial choice. Otherwise, no debt out of Franklin Pierce becomes more appealing.

topfree club?
Tuesday, February 14 2012 at 07:00 PM

Uhmmmm... I just read parts of your "additional information" section. Is this profile for real? A topfree club? You do realize that topfree clubs promote women going without tops in public right? It is not even appropriate for men to be topfree in public! Haha. I hope I don't offend you if this profile is for real, but for some reason, I sense that this must be a joke.

Monday, January 30 2012 at 07:00 PM

Thank you for withdrawing from schools once you made a decision. It keeps the process rolling for people like me who are on waitlists or waiting to hear back.
