Additional Information
4/23/10 - And it's done. Sent in my seat deposit to GW today!
4/13/10 - After a lot of visiting and a lot of talking, I've sent out a lot of withdrawals today and narrowed it down to GW and (if they cave in and give me a scholarship) UW.
3/26/10 - Received my rejection letter from NYU today, along with a $20k/year scholarship to USC, with no added stipulations.
3/9/10 - Just learned that I didn't get BC's Public Service Scholarship. While they've already offered a good deal overall, the lack of this scholarship kind of takes them out of the running.
3/4/10 - In at Texas via phone call. Admissions packet should come in a few days.
3/2/10 - Dean's Scholarship from Vanderbilt for $18,000 a year and a phone call from BU letting me know that I've received the Public Interest Scholarship. Full details on the scholarship should arrive in a few days!
2/26/10 - Found a dead cat in the snow this morning, got waitlisted at Michigan and rejected from Georgetown.
2/25/10 - Received the "Scholar in Law Award" from WUSTL just now. A generous $26,000 a year. It's definitely a great deal, but I'm not sure if it's enough to compete with GW or BC at this point. I still have a lot to think about before making any decisions.
2/18/10 - Rejected from Berkeley. Sad, but not too surprised. They were the only undergrad college that rejected me in many years ago. Unfortunately, they have more company this time around.
2/12/10 - Finalized my application for BC's Public Service scholarship today, only to get an email letting me know I'm getting a scholarship of 28k a year! This certainly complicates things...
2/4/10 - Withdrew from Cornell. With a lot of great offers, I'm not willing to wait until May to see what happens with their reserve list.
2/1/10 - On "Reserve" at Cornell. A bit bummed about that.
1/27/10 - Financial aid forms are the worst things on earth; much worse than applications. I can construct a good narrative about myself, but I can not do numbers.
1/23/10 - Got into GW today! 30k a year, plus free housing for the first year!
1/19/10 - Acceptance letter from UW came today! Very exciting.
1/14/10 - Confirmed with L&C - in, with a very generous $30k a year in merit awards. UW status checker indicated "Decision Letter Sent" 1/13 as well. Come on PNW! [Edit: And on 1/15 we learn that the UW 1/13 update was a systems error.]
1/13/10 - Just got an email from the student government at L&C welcoming me and discussing student-government-type things - a bit surprising, as I never received an acceptance notices! I'm assuming this means admit, but I'm worried about the competence of my local mail service and what else may have been lost on its way here...
1/12/10 - Denied at Penn via status checker. Not very classy, Penn.
1/10/10 - Sent in my response to UCLA's waitlistin' along with a fairly detailed letter describing why I'm still interested. UCLA actually has a great environmental law program and, were I not accepted to any better schools, would be a nice match for me. This is something I don't think I made clear enough in my original application, as I pretty much used a generic PS and DS for most schools, so I'm hoping this will help.
1/8/10 - In at Vanderbilt via email. And in this evening at BC, via a pretty package in the mail. Take that UCLA!
1/7/10 - Waitlisted at UCLA! Nooooo!
1/6/10 - In at WUSTL via email!
1/4/10 - Made it in at USC!
12/23/09 - Received admissions packet from BU. Offered 15k/year merit scholarship. Not bad!
12/17/09 - Just got a call from BU letting me know that I was accepted. Very exciting - let's hope that more come soon!
12/4/09 - Email from Georgetown - decision postponed until January. Not terrible news, as I'm certainly not an auto-admit for them (one point below median LSAT, slightly higher than median GPA), but not the good news I was hoping for when I clicked on the email. We'll see what happens in January.

Would love to work in a law-focused, environmental non-profit following law school. Any comments, suggestions, odds?

I'm waiting for the UW decision letter to make it to the East coast as well, mailed 1/13. Hoping for good news for both of us!!

Wow, between the L&C packet getting lost in the mail and then the UW systems error, you're having a heck of a week! I just hope that the whole UW decision mix-up isn't a bad sign.

And my first comment, too, woo! Good luck on the remainder of your cycle, hope you get into NYU, too :)

Awesome. Well, you've got some great offers anyway, so even if NYU doesn't work out, you'll be going to law school for free at a solid school somewhere. FREE! I wish I could say that. Good luck with environmental law; that'll probably be my focus, too.

Wow- very impressive- congrats on the acceptances! Full ride @ GW is amazing, they have a great overall program and DC is wonderful You have some tough decisions ahead, but it is good to be in your position. I see you are going to Lewis and Clark ASD from TLS, see you there!
Congrats on the Vanderbilt offer. Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 at 5:52 pm
Between that, BC, GW, and some other schools, you have a lot of great offers. Good luck on the rest of your cycle.

Hey just curious why BC or GW over WUSTL?
Teacher Sunday, April 11th, 2010 at 9:29 am
Prefer not to name, but it's in the Bronx.

Staying in School Friday, April 16th, 2010 at 1:33 am
Hey! I decided to stay in my PhD program and finish before contemplating law school, possibly in 2012. You have some excellent choices, and I totally envy your GW acceptance. I wish you the best of luck no matter where you go. We need more good environmental lawyers!
