Additional info & updates

Obtained Master's Degree in Teaching from The College of New Jersey; taught high school history for 4.5 years before quitting.

Currently 11 for 11 in admissions. NEVER on my life did I think I would do this well for acceptances. Strongly considering going to Northern Kentucky: $44k tuition for 3 years - $30k scholarship = only $14k tuition for law school TOTAL.

Anyone have any suggestions on going tier 4 on the super cheap versus tier 2 with no money? (i.e. Louisville or Toledo)

T2 v. T4

Go to whichever school suits you best. If you can get a JD for $14k, you believe that NKU is the right school for you, and it is in a location that you wouldn't mind staying around for a while, do that. It sure beats the hell out of a $50k (assuming you get resident tuition after 1L, more otherwise) debt. A meh-T2 isn't much better than a meh-T4. The T2s might have a bigger region that they place in, better bar passage rates, and better attrition rates, but not by much. If you really believe that you can hack it at NKU and you'd be comfortable calling it your home for 3 years, then go for it. If you can't realize $14k in future earnings based on your JD, you're doing something wrong. A few words of caution though. Once you factor in living expenses, $14k isn't as big of a percentage of total expense v. the other schools. If your conditions for the renewal of your scholarship suck, you should also consider that. Also, like I said, NKU doesn't do as good in the ares of student retention (esp. in the 2nd and 3rd years), bar passage, and placement as Louisville and Toledo. It's not a huge difference that exists between them, but it may be enough that if you're really worried about dropping out/passing the bar/getting a job, you may want to look at the T2s for the hedge. Personally, I got into a couple of good T2s (Denver and Miami), but I've already withdrawn from them and will probably be headed to Ole Miss due to the reduced cost. Even if Ole Miss is a T3 (sometimes low T2), it is about $65k cheaper than my T2s and it is a better fit for me. I'll still be able to get the jobs that I want and to do what I want with my JD, but I won't be saddled with almost $200k in debt. In the end, no one can tell you what's best for you, you have to figure it out for yourself. Given your soft factors, I think that you would be able to make the most out of a JD from anywhere. Whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck.

I'm from Sparks, MD. where are you leaning towards attending? What are your feelings toward the RWU Honors program, are you going to their accepted student day at the end of the month?
