"Received" is date law school report is requested

"Decision" is date on letter or of email or phone call

1/4/08: W&M acceptance with $8k/yr scholarship via priority mail

1/8/08: GMU acceptance via phone call. Large envelope with acceptance received on 1/10.

1/12/08: Small envelope with ND waitlist. Will probably withdraw soon.

1/15/08: JUST mailed my Dean's Cert. for W&L to my undergrad registrar's office... hope they won't take forever to pass it on.

1/16/08: Just received an email with my acceptance to GW and I'm pretty excited about it. Said large package should arrive Friday. This continues my streak of receiving decisions every 4 days...

1/21/08: Withdrew from ND waitlist on Saturday. My streak is over and I'm starting to get antsy again. Also, I just can't seem to motivate myself to write my essays for UNC and I think I only have about a week left to finish them. Yikes.

1/26/08: Just received a big envelope from USC with acceptance! Very happy to hear more good news!!!

1/31/08: I'm going insane. Should I even apply to UNC? I have no idea where I want to go... and I'm not going to hear back from a lot of these schools for quite awhile still. I need a very big, long-term distraction.

2/6/08: Just found out I'm at decision at GULC. Nervous, but I know I'd be lucky for a waitlist with my numbers... Oh well.

2/8/08: Sucks. Now I remember why I was so upset with my LSAT. Goodbye T14.

2/11/08: Berkeley rejection in the mail. No surprise but it's no fun getting shot down twice in a row.

2/16/08: Got scholarship offer from USC for $16k/year. I think it's because I'm across the country. Makes me feel a little better since I've been lying in bed sick the last four days.

2/22/08: Email acceptance from W&L. Happy to hear some good news.

2/26/08: Last night I dreamt UCLA waitlisted me. I think I was bummed. Maybe that shows how desperate I am to hear from these schools...

3/1/08: Rejection from Penn in the mail. No surprise. Didn't bother to write Why Penn essay. 6 left. Maybe they'll all be waiting for me when I get back from St. Thomas next week. I hope I manage not to think about law school at all on my vacation.

3/8/08: Returned nicely burned from St. Thomas to find a big scholarship from W&L that will definitely impact my decision in a big way. Not much else. Where are my decisions?

3/16/08: Waitlisted by American yesterday. No worries. Withdrawing.

3/21/08: Received UCLA waitlist in the mail yesterday. Don't think it's likely I'll stay on because it's highly doubtful I'll move across the country at this point.

3/28/08: Went to decision at UVA along with a bunch of other people... Hoping my trip to W&L this weekend will keep my mind off of it.

4/3/08: Visited W&L last weekend and it seemed like a nice school, just not the right place for me. It's hard to pass on that scholarship though. Received UVA decision finally - resident priority WL. I'm actually pretty excited about it, given my numbers. I have the chance to interview which I know I should take if I really want to get in, but I'm afraid I'll botch it and they'll hate me... advice?

4/15/08: Withdrew from W&M via email and sent in my deposit to GW. I guess I'm going to GW unless some miracle happens with UVA. Thanks Duke & Vandy for getting back to me in such a timely manner. Not.

4/16/08: Duke status checker says a decision was made on the 14th. No email so I guess it's a rejection. I wonder what my chances are for getting accepted off UVA's waitlist? I better impress in my interview. My heart is with my fellow VT Hokies today...

4/17/08: ... i'm afraid i'm getting my hopes up for nothing with UVA

4/22/08: WTF. Screw you UNC.

Also, I had my UVA interview. Pretty basic and easy. I guess we'll see...

4/24/08: Received email from GMU with scholarship offer yesterday. Don't think it matters much anymore.

5/1/08: FINALLY. Vandy decision mailed. It won't matter. Just happy to have my cycle be done... almost.

5/6/08: Got my waitlist letter from Vandy yesterday. Not planning to stay on it. My cycle is so boring and usual. At least all the (regular decision) waiting is done. C'mon UVA, please?

Are you hoping to end up in the greater D.C. area?

If there is any sort of chance then go for it. Your female status should help substatially with that LSAT score. To quote dumb and dumber..."so your telling me there's a chance!" Words to live by! Good luck and C-ya.

You're a lock to be a Tarheel this time around. Hopefully we'll be classmates. I think you have a solid chance to get into every school you applied to. Why not Virginia? You'll probably get in there as well.

Wow we are pretty identical with our results so far. the longer this cycle goes on, the more i hate my lsat score. i'm hoping no news from vandy is good news at this point -- i think you have a great shot at getting accepted!

- abbiecarmichael
  • oh well
  • Saturday, February 09 2008 at 01:33 PM

Nah, ND wasn't my top choice, far from it. Very, very little chance I would have taken them over GW. I have a close friend who is a 2L at ND, and he was really hoping I'd end up there, so I think he's angrier about the ding than I am! Still sucks getting the first one though. My GULC went to decision a couple of days ago, so I'm expecting to join you in the GULC small envelope club early next week... Also, wondering why you didn't apply to Cornell??

Ithaca too cold... I can't disagree, I'm from Fla, but I suppose I'd tolerate it for three years in order to have an ivy league degree. As far as my dual dings, yeah, the life of a 167'er... The fact that I haven't heard from W&M worries me, I'm not really sure to think. Next up for us... Vandy?

- timhoop
  • Congrats!
  • Sunday, February 17 2008 at 11:09 AM

...on USC! Nice $$$ too. Are you really considering making the move out west?

- timhoop
  • Monday, February 18 2008 at 05:27 AM

The lone financial aid email is also the only thing I've gotten from UCLA. My top choice out of the schools I'm in at is GW... though I REALLY like Cornell and I'm hoping they decide to be nice and let me in. If I get in at Vandy but none of the reaches then it will be a tough call between Vandy and GW.

I did not know such happiness and ecstasy could exist. It is a night that won't be forgotten. Not even in law school. As to your 2/8/08 update, you're definitely not out at T14. Gtown and Boalt are tool factories, and they don't care about softs. Hopefully you'll have better luck than me in at Penn, you're finance background should prolly help out. I hope UVA and Duke come through for you - congrats on the others!

- entersandman42
  • Thanks!
  • Thursday, February 21 2008 at 12:23 PM

Congrats on the USC money, by the way. And don't count yourself out of the T-14 just yet. Duke has been all over the place this year so it's hard to predict their acceptances. Best of luck.

Thanks, and congrats on your acceptance to the other ampersand law school! I'm glad to finally hear from w&m, and surprised I got as much $$$ as I did after my decision being so tardy. Now the Cornell/Vandy waiting game switches into high gear for me.

  • VANDY?!
  • Thursday, March 06 2008 at 05:48 AM

Can you please explain why you and I seem to be the ONLY people who went complete around when we did and yet HAVE NOT heard back from Vanderbilt yet?!? ...I am feeling some frustration.

  • Congrats
  • Saturday, March 08 2008 at 03:41 AM

Seems like we applied to a bunch of the same places. Same State, same LSAT, though you rocked my GPA. Hope you end up some where you want and good luck for the rest of the cycle!

Thanks! As for the Penn decision, I just mistakenly entered in the Texas date. Thanks for pointing that out... As for the UCLA waitlist, I'll likely be withdrawing as I don't really want to go west coast. Kind of scary I'm down to only waiting on 3 more before its decision time...

  • Saturday, March 22 2008 at 08:00 AM

Hello and congrats on your great options so far! Glad to see I'm not the only Virginian who still hasn't received an 03.28 decision letter from UVA. Think it could be a good sign?

Looks like there is a small group of us that received the "resident priority" WL today. Definitely do the interview - nothing to lose and a lot to gain! Best of luck - keeping my fingers crossed for us both!

I'm heading down to interview myself... any advice? I think that will definitely improve our chances (well, assuming I don't totally screw mine up).
