Additional info & updates

Finally got my apps in as of 11/24/06. NYU is still pending as I wrap up the essay for their IILJ Scholars program, but hopefully it'll be in by the end of the weekend.

11/29/06 - NYU and IILJ apps are in.

12/08/06 - Got an e-mail from TStock re: phone call, so I'm assuming my HLS application is complete.

12/12/06 - Okay, NOW my HLS is complete.

12/14/06 - Got TStock call.

12/18/06 - IN AT HARVARD (by phone)! Freaking out, and drinking.

12/27/06 - Got home from holiday to find NYU acceptance in the mail...big manilla envelope. Also went to post office to pick up HLS acceptance materials: a priority-mailed box containing a binder of information (in sexy HLS crimson...gotta love it).

I think I've decided to withdraw my app to UVa (or just not complete that in-state status form I've been neglecting). Don't get me wrong: I am a huge fan of UVa in general, the law school in particular and Charlottesville perhaps most of all...I'd recommend all three to any and everyone...but after four years there I want a new environment. So I hope all the other UVa fans out there appreciate the improved odds :-)

01/23/07 - IN AT YALE! Only moderately cogent after receiving phone call (partly because I had already had some drinks in preparation for the SotU). w00t! :-D

01/24/07 - And got a Columbia acceptance in the mail today (large brownish envelope), w/ an offer of a Hamilton. I'd like to say I'm celebrating the same way I did YLS and HLS, but unfortunately I'm still a little hungover from last night's celebration...but am quite happy nonetheless :-)

02/12/07 - Huh. Somehow got into UVa today, despite having sent an e-mail withdrawing my application several weeks ago. Haven't gotten any official admission letter, just an e-mail from a current student involved in some extracurricular group, welcoming me as an Admitted Student...we'll see how this pans out, but I guess it never hurts to have another option :-)

04/03/07 - Offered a Dillard at UVa...putting a move back South back on the table, at least for the time being.

04/23/07 - Going to YLS, the ASW sold it. New Haven, here I come : - )

I wouldn't feel rushed. With your 179, 3.82 from UVA, and State experience, you could submit your apps in late January and you'll still get in everywhere. Your list looks good for intl/comp law. I'd apply to Stanford, too. And if you're looking for $$$, think about Penn, Michigan, and maybe Cornell; all have excellent intl offerings. But you're headed for H or Y, I bet.

NYU Acceptance

It came in a manilla colored large (but thin) folder. Inside was a blue NYU folder with some fliers on housing and a few other items. I do live just a few blocks from NYU, so I easily could have gotten a little home field advantage re: response and delivery time. Hope that helps, and best of luck to you too :-) Scott

Hey you have gotten into my two dream schools. I'm taking the LSAT in FEB. Any advice to the studying process and application procedures? How long did you study? thanks and best wishes.

I should freak out and drink whenever I get in somewhere. Or even each day that passes and I don't get in somewhere. Good plan.

Question
Saturday, December 16 2006 at 07:00 PM

I am wishfully thinking that the big envelope you received today from Columbia is on its way to my mailbox in Colorado. I suppose that it will arrive on Friday, but there is a complication. If the envelope is of the large, but thin and flimsy variety (i.e. it can be folded harmlessly), it will be placed inside my small mailbox and I will be able to retrieve it on Friday evening after I return from skiing. If, however, the envelope is slightly more bulbous and not suitable to the old postal fold-and-stuff, a sticker with a barcode will be placed in my mailbox while the envelope itself waits in the back of the mailroom for me to claim it. The issue here is that I will not return from skiing until after the mailroom has closed for the weekend, and not being able to claim the package until Monday would make me manic depressive. So, kindly describe to me the precise malleability and pliability of the envelope you received so that I might decide whether or not skiing on Friday is a good idea. By the way, congratulations, I hope to see you in New York.

Congrats on UVa! Are you flying down to visit in the next few weeks? Any advice on UVa as a potential school?

quick question - did you do anything special to get the UVA scholarship? (I mean, besides the crazy high numbers!) And when did they notify you? Thanks a lot - hope Yale is great!
