Additional info & updates

Undergrad GPA is so low because of medical issue.

Masters degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Joseph's University in 2007. Working as paralegal in Immigration law since 2007.

LSAT prep for December 2017:
++Self study.
++PowerScore course in October and November.

So....second LSAT did not go the way I expected at all. I should have taken it much earlier (at least six months before the December test). Won't submit my 8 remaining apps. Expecting denials across the board for the 9 that are pending. Will retake in September and try again next cycle.

Updates 01/25/19:
Penn State is University Park, not Dickinson.

First acceptance: Chicago-Kent on 11/30/18. Will always be the first law school that ever accepted me.

$$$ amounts are per year.

Updates 03/30/19:

Scholarship $ at Penn State is a state resident grant, scholarship, and need-based grant.
Scholarship $ at Pitt is a scholarship and grant.
Waitlisted at American, declined it.

Haven't gotten LSDAS GPA yet, but had to put something there. First LSAT score is from 2005.

Got my LSDAS GPA. I least I think it is. It's different than the GPA on my UG transcript. It's a lot higher than I expected it to be.

OK, so my lsat score is 143. I went in not having studied like I needed to at all. Which is the reason that I decided to hold off on applications until the next cycle for 2018 admission. I decided to take lsat anyway (it was already paid for and refund amount was too small to justify). After much thought, decided to take the score. So I know what I have to work with.

For Penn State, I will be applying to the University Park campus, not Dickinson in Harrisburg. University Park wasn't on the dropdown list for some reason.

For my choice rankings, Michigan and Indiana are tied for my top choice, with Pitt right behind them.

I received my bachelors and masters both from BGSU. I graduated with my undergraduate degree in 2007. I have only taken the LSAT once, but am planning to take it again this fall. I am a terrible test taker, but am determined to mprove my score! Good luck to you!

Hi, jmsommers. Good to see another BG falcon here. Good luck to you too!

Are you going to apply to Spring start at any Law schools? I saw a few School that would probably accept you. I've seen them accept lower GPA's

Indiana Law rejection
Saturday, July 23 2016 at 09:12 AM

So....I got the Indiana Law denial yesterday. Didn't even react, didn't even hurt really because I knew it was coming. Been prepping myself for it for a month. But they're still at top of my list. Will reapply next cycle. Indie can't get rid of me that easy! :)

Cycle over
Saturday, July 23 2016 at 09:12 AM

Waitlisted at 4, withdrew from all. I will reapply to most of the schools I applied to this cycle, plus the ones that I didn't because the December LSAT score was too low. Congrats to everyone this cycle who got into their schools! For those who didn't, good luck next cycle!

Hi there! Congrats on giving this a go after graduating from undergrad so long ago. I'm in the same boat as you. I also have a low UG GPA. I didn't do well my first go around on the LSAT in January, but have been scoring between 167 and 171 in my PTs. I'm glad to know I'm not alone in wanting to go to law school later in life. Best of luck to you.
